Short little bed time stories, a tiny kiss goodnight
Stubbing my toe on your bed as I plug in the nite light
Tiny arms wrapped around the back of my neck
I turn to give your cheek another "goodnight" peck

The times you were awakened in the middle of the night
Crawling into bed next to me because something gave you a fright
Getting up early to watch Saturday morning cartoons
Enjoying them so much, nothing got done until after noon

Little bitty forks and tiny cups that held your drinks
Playing a game of "go-fish" or even "tiddly-winks"
Watching you on the swings, even going down the slide
My face filling with a smile, my chest swelling with pride

Sitting watching you while you played
That was the best way to spend my day
Sitting at the dinner table talking about silly things
Hearing your little giggle made my heart sing

Those were the things that will make a Daddy boast
Those are the things THIS Daddy misses the most
I used to watch them grow up right before my eyes
Now it's done through pictures that I hold late into the night...

Date: 9/24/2001 3:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 8024    I know where your coming from ...the pain is unbearable, Your childrens love is like no other ...they won't ever stop loving you no matter what you do....just because you can't see them doesn't make you not a part of there lives...don't give up on your child ...A daddy is so important, I am my little girls daddy...my wife and I have separated ...I was gone out of my little gils life for 6 months ... it killed me everyday I let feelings and thoughts eat away at me...Finally I decided that no matter what happens I have to be there for my daughter ...and now I have made it so I can be with her pretty much anytime I want ...I don't ever want to lose her and I can tell you feel the same ...I pray things work out for you ... beautiful poem sad last line ....
Date: 9/24/2001 3:09:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17487    Thanks CC...writing helps me deal with not having them around all of the time. I do get to see them every couple of weeks, sometimes even longer...but it isn't the same as coming home from a hard day's work and hearing your kids scream out "daddy's home" with so much joy and love....
Date: 9/24/2001 3:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 8024    ohhh hi stormtracker5....28 smiles...I just noticed you wrote this poem... No wonder it is so well written....

Date: 9/25/2001 5:36:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17487    Once again among true friends. The ones that know how to lift you up when you need it the most.
Date: 10/10/2001 6:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 600    Again, a truly wonderful poem, but filled with such pain that the reader can feel. Just remember that you are their father and they will always love you and know without a doubt that you love them more than anything. Hang in there, things will get easier with time. Love,
Date: 11/8/2001 3:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 40290    This is the most beautiful poem I have ever read. The sadness in it breaks my heart though.
