Women are not allowed health care. There are few medical facilities and the ones they do have are very primitive, filthy, and very few doctors. Women cannot and are NOT allowed to ever be examined by a male doctor. Many children do not live past their 5th birthday. Girls are banned from any education beyond 12 years of age. Bands of Taliban "Vice" squads roam around, snooping and spying on everyone. People are tortured, hug, or shot for the slightest little "wrong" doing.

They are horrible. I think Bin Laden, his followers, and the Taliban should all be publicly executed. I know the public execution part will never happen so I think we should at least assasinate all of them and free the country from the oppression of the Taliban and the Islamic Fundamentalist community............Racquie  |

Racquie, In that same program, the reporter was talking to a Taliban official, and the calmness, the sincere manner with which he spoke about the public executions of pople in the stadium, just sent chills through me. The Taliban destroy anything and everything, anyone who disagrees with them in the slightest way. Everywhere the camera pointed, in any direction, NO ONE was smiling, NO joy, NO hope. Women sat on the sides of the roads, covered in their burkas (veils), many with sick, emaciated children lying beside them as they stretched out their hands in begging. The terror, and the sadness, the tears in those childrens eyes......I WILL NEVER FORGET, and it haunts me........pleads to me. I really do HOPE, I really do think that The United States goverment, along with other countries, such as England, France, Canada, Germany and many others will ALL form a HUMANITARIAN effort, a coalition, to STOP the Taliban and liberate these people. No doubt about it, there WILL be innocent people caught in the middle, but the way that I see it, those innocent people haven't much of a life anyway. IF it were ME, in the same circumstances, I would give MY life to stop the Taliban!
Thank you all for your kind replies. I do appreciate any thoughts on these terrible human rights violations of the worst kind. I recall the 6 million Jews who perished in Hitler's regime during WWII, and don't you know that many many looked the other way, for so long....and we cannot do that anymore! |
