This is the most tragic thing to happen in American history in years, there is probably no way you are going to get away from it. We are on the brink of something very serious, and it is extremely important that we are all informed of what has happened and may happened. Sure, you may get tired of hearing about it, but think of those who are trying to get more information about this. USM is for spreading information, good or bad, to the rest of the family. Madhatter, I understand your feelings but you have to remember hon, that we got hit, and we got hit hard, our very freedom has been challenged but above all, it was challenged with thousands of people dying - your witnessing history in the making and I for one, wish you didn't have to, but it's happened and it will remain in our minds for a long time to come - it's scary and yes, like you and Thunderhead, the redundancy of the new hasn't made it any easire, but this unbelievable carnage has to be vented and while doing so, we need to be reminded that our way of life and freedom is something that a certain faction of the human race would like to take away from us with hopes of controlling our every day. Do what I did, when it starts to get to you, walk away, turn off the news, grow quiet, take a few deep breaths and pray that in the end, it will never happen again. I know you meant no dis-respect, but you have to remind yourself, a lot of people lost family members, and friends and the agony is very overwhelming at the moment - be patience and remain silent in the midst of this emotional state we're all in - by the time they get through counting all those who lost their lives it's going to be as close as a hundred thousand - that's half of what Hiroshima lost when they were hit with the first atomic bomb - be tolerant this is a rough time for all and that includes you. Well I think you should just accept the fact that people need to vent and move on. I know that it is going on and on but this is a big thing and alot of lives where lost here, thats very important in it's self, so lets not be selfish. THe only thing that I am getting sick of seeing is everybody and their brother who claims to have predicted this. Hiding your head in the sand will not stop the problems that happen around you. Maybe this has not directly involved you, however, it has to many of us at USM. USM may be an escape for you to get away from all that you hear at school, but for me, it is a place to read and learn. The tradjedies of what happened yesterday are just beginning...I mean, there were thousands of stories of heroism, as well as sad stories. Example ..There was a woman on the internet with her husband who was in the first tower, he said he was ok that there was a fire in the top level floors, (he was about halfway up-55th floor) that is exactly the time when the building crumbled. He did not make it home to her last night. What you are learning in school is REAL. Light-hearted conversation and chat is not. I understand that you need an escape from the everyday pressures and boredom associated with school, but you must try to be compassionate and understand that what happened does directly hurt you as well. Time will show you that. Expect more on this subject to come and try to be understanding to the stories and /or conversations you see/read here.
