Date: 9/9/2001 9:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 34912    It's one of those troubling necessary evils in history. Remember Pearl Harbor and that the Japanese were seeking to ravage the United States. If the war had continued, Japan would have resorted to something worse. We had to bring things to an end. It's intersting to note that several days prior, US planes had dropped thousands of flyers over the two cities warning them of what was coming. It was no suprise.
Date: 9/9/2001 9:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 28071    unfortunately yes. Dave
Date: 9/9/2001 9:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I think it was a necessary evil.
Date: 9/9/2001 9:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 8828    I really do think that it was necessary, unfortunately. It needed to happen, but it was very sad.....this is a very good topic!
Date: 9/9/2001 9:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42668    unfortunately yes i agree, altough I think the war should never of began over such stupid reasoning, evil should never be necessary
Date: 9/9/2001 9:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 25118    Good thing I did my final paper on this last year...see what I know here:

Date: 9/9/2001 9:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 25118    And note that I busted my balls on that paper for a VERY LONG TIME...
Date: 9/10/2001 6:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 31275    it's a hard question. but i think it was necessary also. i mean do you know the atrocities committed by the japanese in the war? wow! PAI
Date: 9/10/2001 6:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    I think we did the right thing by dropping the first bomb, but I have trouble understanding why we dropped the second one. After the first bomb the Japanese still did not surrender right away, but I think given a little more time they may have done so....Kelly
Date: 9/10/2001 7:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 25438    Drastic times call for drastic measures. And it ended the war..so I think it was a good idea.
Date: 9/10/2001 7:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 36459    Europe was already won. Japan was near defeat. The bomb wasn't necessary to winning the war, but it did ensure that less Ally troops died. Not that lives on that side of the world are less valuable than lives here, but that is the nature of war. It has little to do with who is right or wrong, rather who has the most men standing at the end. The winners write the history. ~ Chooselife
Date: 9/10/2001 12:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 20104    Yes we did the right thing. There was nothing else we could do.
Date: 9/10/2001 9:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 37354    They should have dropped a half dozen more. Than told Stalin we are going to keep Eastern Europe capitalist. Any arguments? Hugo
Date: 9/10/2001 10:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 17204    yes, it was the right thing to do...sadly.
Date: 9/10/2001 10:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 42676    Even though it was necessary, I wished it had never happened because now we will live under this threat forever....Capitol
