I saw part of this, TC. I don't know. I mean I just thought the whole situation was incredibly sad. The parents already had a little son that was still living and they said they loved him, but he wasn't Andrew. Then later they said that they knew that the cloned baby wouldn't really be Andrew and they accepted that. But....if that were true then why would they say that they loved their other son but he wasn't Andrew....when this cloned son wouldn't be Andrew either. And....how would the son they have now feel knowing that although they loved him....he wasn't enough because he wasn't Andrew. And...if the cloning was successful...how would the clone feel knowing that he was a replica of another son who had died....and yet he had a separate identity. I wonder if that wouldn't cause a lot of psychological problems for him. There are just so many questions. It's just sad. |

I think this is sad. Personalities are unique. You can clone an identical body but not the soul that makes a person unique. |

Yes, there are many questions. I was thinking that if an exact physical replica was created, and if the soul of Andrew were to reincarnate into the "new" Andrew...then maybe it would really just be a continuation of the original Andrew. |

If a clone was made from a living person, then I'm sure that a new soul would come to inhabit it. Therfore the clone would be a separate entity on the soul level. |

Please hear me out and don't get mad.. If the child died due to a heart defect then if they cloned the child would it not still have the same heart defect? Why would anyone want to put another soul through that. I myself do not agree with cloning, to me is is nothing more than plastic surgery. Cloning healthy organs only, now that I agree with but not the whole body. |

Have you ever seen stories on twins? on how alike some are? somthing in the DNA. I'll bet that a clone would have the SAME personality as the original. same likes and dislikes, same little quirks. |

I agree with Stormchaser. Why clone? Nobody is perfect the idea behind procreating is to better mankind. |

StormChaser. I thought about the same thing regarding the possibility of the clone having the exact same congenital heart defect. From what I understand, the fact that the surgery was not successful was considered rather surprising. I think the odds for successful surgery a second time would be very good. I also think that just cloning organs would be a good thing. |
