People have been wanting more concrete and concise rules to be posted, as seen in messages to admins. The rules that are posted have only come from previous postings in the past from many different admins on USM, and from posts that came from the Creator's of USM themselves in the past, the guidelines were just summarized and condensed by doing research from all past postings from this view. I personally see nothing wrong with them, as they have been stated at USM time and again by many people, and have been agreed upon by many commentors as well. It is just now posted in a condensed version so these do not have to be continually re-posted is all! |

as I said, there are ones I do not agree with, but maybe they can be explained for everyone to understand. 1)using "wildcards" in place of swears... I don't see the problem with using @#!$***** instead of the real word, anyone not old enough to know what belongs in there place, shouldn't. 2)No offsite URLs... come on! There goes researching ANYTHING of interest that others have found, since they are not allowed to post thier source. 3)"untitled" as a title... poetry, in particular, does not always come with ready made titles, and often the poet (Dreamerpoet, just to name one) will sit for hours trying to name it, only to not come up with anything. Guess we will loose several really great poems, simply because the content of the poem and the meaning behind it lacks a title. 4) "does not contain interesting content", "If the story is not interesting to the majority of our visitors." are these two points not one-in-the-same? Who determines what is interesting and what is not? Not just not interesting to the admin who happens accross it, but to the MAJORITY of the visitors? Is it reply count? If so, then whats the minimum? 4? 6? Well then, there goes about 1/3rd of the posts in general... since rarely do posts recieve more than that lately. Please, I do not mean to complain, I simply wish to understand how these new rules will be inforced and what the guidelines the ADMINS will be following in order to stay CONSISTENT. |

SilverHour, (-: There is nothing that states that you cannot post a URL in someone's profile if they want more information! |

I quote "NO OTHER WEBSITE listings can be promoted at USM. DO NOT place a URL address from another site that is not affiliated with this website. We have NO ONE who has the time to verify the sometimes over 40 added links to anyone's stories on a daily basis, to confirm they are "G" Rated. These stories may be completely deleted, or the URL address will be deleted from your posting." Granted, it does not include PM's in this phrase, but you are implying that you WILL have time to verfy the ones that ARE PM'ed, but not the ones that are POSTED... is this not a double standard? If you have the time to check the ones that are PM'ed, 25 times to different people, why not just check it once at the post it is refering to instead? |

and honestly, it's point number 4 that I made that I would really like answers to. How are you going to insure that they Admins are consistint in determining what is interesting and what is not? |

I really don't like that URL rule. I like to share other sites with my friends at USM. Perhaps they could change it to say that you must warn it's not G-Rated? And what if the site has stuff THEY think is 'profane' but isn't to others? I don't like how your account could be deleted if you do this. This really makes me mad... |
