Well I am a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. For the most part what you say is true. I try to teach using makeup only to enhance what you already have. A good makeup job is one that you can't see. You should use makeup in a way that doesn't go against what you already naturally have. Like blue eyeshadow or blue eyeliner for example. What you are wrong about is that they all clog your pores. I spent years putting on foundation which would make me breakout, then it was a cycle. I had to wear it to cover up the acne. The reason this happened was because I was just going down to the five and dime and buying the cheapest foundation I could find. You have to find a foundation that is made specifically for your skin type. Since I switched to Mary Kay I haven't had a problem. That is why I became a consultant. I wanted to let others know what I had discovered. The other thing you said was that makeup clogs your pores and causes acne. Actually the right foundation will stop you from getting acne. If I go a week without using my foundation I break out awful. What foundation does is protects your skin from impurities in the air. Perspiration alone is more likely to irritate your skin and cause acne than foundation. It's sounds to me like you are one of the lucky few that can get away with out make up. If you feel good without it and your skin is healthy keep doing what you are doing. Some of aren't so lucky though. I have never had more beautiful, glowing, healthy skin than I do now. I wouldn't promote it if I didn't believe in it. Another point, when you get older you may have different skin tone so keep what I said in mind. ***Shelly*** |

I use eye make-up, eyeliner, mascara (occasionally) and eyeshadow, because my eyes seem to sink in and I like them more definded. And I'm in a LOT of plays and such, where I have to wear make-up so my face shows up in the stage lights... Lip-stick I wear for fun. I don't wear blush... I don't need it. But for some people, make-up doesn't look fake, if you're good at applying it. Much Love, |

I wear it sometimes because I like the way it looks on me. I dont care what other people think of the way I look. I wear it for myself. Most guys like girls that are naturaul, so I hear anyways. If what your saying about wearing make up is being phony, what about clothes? They cover you up. They arent natural either. Oh well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like it. Especially on guys. hehe |

I wear eye make-up because, unfortunately, I don't have natural beauty. I don't mind if I don't look totally natural, it makes me feel more confident so I wear it every day. |

to all: let people see the real you and then let them see the covered-up you and see which "you" they like best...people who are themselves get more love and attention from others because they're not hiding anything...thats what i'm talking about...the other comments were just suggestions not to harm the skin...but i was talking about feelings and what not..yeah u may feel good or like to dress up..but do u really like "yourself" the way god made you..????or you're just tryin to cover up his mistake..."you"..i feel sorry for you guys..cause you're afraid of you're own features and what others might say..behind your back...so you wear make-up to make "you" feel better, but blind others mentally...i should have explained deeper..i'm sorry... |

If I was blessed with beautiful, flawless, dark skin-I would go au naturel too!!!Unfortunately, I have pale, reddish skin, pale lashes, and from lack of sleep due to children-I have these lovely bags beneath my eyes.*sigh*.However, I only wear make-up that compliments my natural beauty, I wear concealer for the flaws, mascara for the limp lashes, and lip gloss.I dont wear make-up to decieve anybody, just to keep them from pointing and laughing;lol,j/k,(kinda).I dont need make-up to feel good about myself, but it sure helps if Im having an ugly-face day.Whatever floats ones boat rostbyte |

I usually wear makeup, because I work with the public and I try to dress nice and look decent that I will not scare the customers away,or have sales go down, because I look like I just woke up.I think makeup can enhance certain features of your face.I like makeup and I like the fact that it is not permanent, you can always wash it off and experiment with it. |

You expect me to go without my foundation? I have blotchy skin. I also get breakouts, which are hormonal and are not caused by clogged pores. If it wasn't for the foundation I use to even out my skin tone, I wouldn't feel comfortable going out. Wearing makeup doesn't make a female shallow, it gives her confidence. |

so u guys are saying that your natural beauty scares people away....????..maybe some can't handle their self-image..(self-esteem goes way down)..go to a PROFESSIONAL make-up artist and ask them thier point of natural beauty and where it comes from..i see that u all mean u enhance it..that i believe..but why if you're already beautiful??????like celebrities..we never see the real person behind that make-up...we might not recognize them... |

everyone has a natural beauty...it comes from within...and it makes you..you..and not someone else...even if your're not the most beautiful people in the world..your're still beautiful inside and out..just don't be afraid to show it...like they say beauty is only skin deep...i say if you let it be.... |

What does being beautiful on the inside have to do with showing people what your skin looks like without makeup? Wearing make-up doesn't change who a person is. |

i use (preferably) black eyeliner 'cause i think i have small, almond-shaped eyes-- almost slantedish imo --w/o it. i'm told the rest of my face is fine the way it is, & i say it that way not 'cause i have no esteem, but 'cause i hate to sound conceited. (& ppl do tell me to leave it as it is.) i've never been one for the delicate-mortar called foundation either, & not to get off the subject but what's your stance on hair dyes? they're artificial too. just curious. ttyl, -tugger |

I'm sorry, but you keep saying that it is bad for the skin. It is not bad for your skin if you are using the right kind for your skin type. If used right it can help to make your skin healthier. I'm 27 and I know many woman my age who have never used makeup and their skin is covered with acne. It's all a matter of taking care of your skin. Yes we have natural beauty and we don't need to be loved for what we look like with makeup on. My husband loves the me inside and I rarely do myself up when I am sitting home with him. He doesn't care. But let's face it. Whether you want to say inside beauty is more important (which I believe) some of us just aren't natural beauties. Some of us have very light skin which is prone to acne, sunburn, blotchiness, freckles. Are you saying that we should just let our flaws hang out there for the world to see if we can disguise them? And a good foundation has sunblock in it, so there is another reason it is good for your skin. If you go out in a nice little outfit that enhances your figure, don't you feel good. Don't you feel better in something like this than if you went out in a sweatsuit? If you say no, I won't believe you. It's human nature to feel better when we look better. If it gives someone a little confidence what is wrong with it. When you are 40 years old and you have black circles under your eyes and wrinkles all over your face and you don't have the perfect 20 year old skin you have now, you might see things different. I had perfect skin when I was 20 too and I didn't wear foundation. Foundation I use to protect my skin and to cover my flaws. Eyeshadow, blush, eyeliner, and mascara I use to enhance the beauty I was born with. If you went for a week without washing your skin would your skin be as flawless as it is? No, but why do you wash it? To take care of your skin. Take a look at some old pictures of women. Fifty years ago a 40 year old woman looked like some 60 year old women do today. The reason women's skin stays younger looking now is because of all of these things. We are taking care of our skin now, because we can. They didn't have the technology back then. So how can it be bad for your skin if today's woman is looking younger?***Shelly*** |
