I'm a hardcore Trekkie, and I like Star Trek a lot.The Borg are intesting....But I was wondering just now about how long a Borg drone's lifespan is? Anyone know?

Date: 7/19/2001 9:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 5301    ...I'm not sure...the wife is in the other room, still alive and well.
Date: 7/19/2001 9:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 24048    since they're basically machines, they probably keep going until Data puts them to sleep. i got another borg question for ya. why'd they name Picard Locutus? none of the other Borg had names at that point. - broken arrow
Date: 7/19/2001 9:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 5301    ...Perhaps they gave Picard this name because he was eloquent (had good locution).
Date: 7/19/2001 10:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 19382    lol@Heckler. They live untill destroyed or seperated from the collective then age and die. And in answer to the other question down here. He was given a name because he had a role. He was not so much a drone per-say, he was to be an "ambassador" to the species of the Federation. You had Hugh of Borg, you have Seven of Nine (that's still a name). Borg are given names by the queen if important enough a role is given.
Date: 7/20/2001 2:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 12637    All I know is I thought the new series, should've been strictly about the Borg, from the Borg Perspecitive, with electronica music and fast paced editing! Ryphis
Date: 7/20/2001 8:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 19875    I actually think Picard got a name because he's one of the main characters in the show, therefore he's gotta be importent. By the way, 7 of 9 is not a name, it's a designation. All of the Borg have designations. Theres probably more then one 7 of 9 but it's from a different unimatrix then Seven. Great idea Ryphis! That would've been cool!
Date: 7/20/2001 11:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 21847    I always assumed they "lived" until they deactivated, or until that central-computer nasty lady-thing dies, then they all die
Date: 7/20/2001 11:17:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16612    Heh. Hugh of Borg was cool.
Date: 7/24/2001 1:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 40063    they live til the bio components of their system break down.. but since they can regenerate and stuff i would assume its infinite
Date: 7/25/2001 1:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 5353    Good question... I have no idea... I would assume that since they need the organic components, that they would eventually loose thier functioning. I think they touched on this in one episode, they said something about when a Borg drone reaches certian level of inactivity it is recycled back into the collective and disasembled to be used in assimalating new drones... I don't remember who said it, or in what series, TNG, Voyager, or First Contact maybe...
Date: 7/27/2001 3:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 31980    A borg is an assimilated other species. So a drone clingon will live the length of a regular klingon. A drone human will live as long as a normal human. Get it?
Date: 8/17/2001 1:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 33305    Personally i would have thought that since they are run by a machine but mostly held together by organic parts, they will live until the organic parts decay too much, at which point the bionic parts are recycled.
Date: 10/22/2001 9:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 45164    These are all good points, but does anyone remember ever having heard about what they eat.
It seams to me that no matter what gets assumalated it has to eat something in order to sustane the liveing tussie, right?
Date: 12/30/2001 11:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 47585    Considering the fact that a drone is part of a collective, it is infinant unless otherwise a phase beam actually damaged it!!!
