1st of all: That statement makes absolutely NO SENSE whatsoever. You have no idea what the meaning of "faith" is, nor what atheism is, pure and simple. 2nd: To really explain it, and lay it all out here for you to read would be an exercise in futility, Hugo. It is actually possible that some people could know God exists. It is theoretically possible of all the people throughout the ages who have claimed to spoken to God that 1 or 2 or 10 or 20 actually did. It seems impossible to me to prove a negative: that God does not exist. The only truly rational position on religion is agnosticism. You STILL have not explained how it is that you feel that it takes MORE faith to NOT believe in god, as opposed to those who do. IF I was so close minded, Hugo, I most certainly would not have bothered to ask you to EXPLAIN yourself, now would I? "Explain it to someone in "My" league"?? I don't have to explain anything here. I was not the one that made the assertion that it requires more faith to not believe. You ever hear of, or know what the expression "BURDEN OF PROOF" means? When YOU can come forth and explain what YOU meant by the statement you posted in the initial post, and or pose some legitimate rebuttal, THEN I will explain MYSELF and or comment on that. OK? |

I think it takes more determination and willpower to be an atheist. It is much easier to go with the flow of society and not question the exsistance of God(s)But being atheist means there is no belief in God, so what do you as an atheist have faith in. I am also an atheist, well more of a humanist, so don't take this wrong. Just please explain your statement and I will furthur expand on my faith and belief.  |

Hugo, You made a statement of FACT when you said: "The only thing that requires more faith than believing in God is believing there is no God" You DID NOT SAY anything about this being a debate about IF there IS a god or not. Now, You are pulling a switcheroo here,and turning it into that question by saying "prove there is no god" and avoiding the issue you originally posted as to WHY it takes MORE faith to not believe. You take great pride in being logical and are unable to understand that it is more illogical not to believe in God as it is to believe in him. I think that what has casued all the confusion in this post is the way you define faith. I think when Hugo was posting this he meant faith to be taken as will power or belif not the faith that is used in a religous sense. Am I right? If so I do belive it would require more faith, at least in yourself to be and Athiest although I am not one. E-cutie86  |
