Ever wonder what happened to those people who simply vanished? I'm not talking about the run-aways and the unidentified bodies dumped in the back woods. I mean the doctors, happy homemakers, top students, that don't show up for dinner one night, and are never heard from again. Well, that was me.
My first indication that something wasn't right was the man standing on the side of the road, he seemed so out of place I just had to stop and stare. Like something out of a Bram Stoker's novel, he was pale, dark haired, wearing a long black cloak, the whole vamped out look. Really creepy. Even creepier was when he turned and looked straight at me. There was a sort of shimmer around him, and being the self-conscience teen I was I looked down at myself to see if anything was wrong, and noticed the same shimmering sparkle outlining my body. I've come to realize that my life really began on that day.
"Alright, what have you done to me?"
He just smiled and walked away, falling in step with the crowd that passed. Aroggent little.... grrr. How I wanted to just drop him on his head from a tall building. As the image flashed through my mind I could hear his echoing laughter. Apperently he thought the idea was funny.
The tingle on the back of my neck tells me someone is looking at me, turning I search the crowds for the tell-tale shimmer, but I don't see one. I stare into the sea of people, their faces beginning to flash by in a blur, like everything is speeding up. A wave of nausea hits me and I stumble against a booth, knocking over a garbage can as the ground comes up at me. As the world goes black I realize people are coming to my aid....
