ROADKILL=MAKES ME SICK

Roadkill is such a problem on every freakin road I'm on. On the roads around my house that I normally take, there are always bloody split-open racoons, squirrels, skunks, deer, fox, cats, and once there was a horse (dont ask why). I try to avoid looking at the roadkill, but they're always in front of my face that it's impossible to not see. Gallons of animal blood are splattered all over the road and chopped up animal parts are cluttered everywhere! I feel like I'm mixed up in some kind of dead animal soup! It makes me so sick afterwards and I also cannot concentrate as much because I'm so grossed out. I feel like keeping my eyes closed for the rest of the time I'm driving...but NO!! This one time on this road that has the most roadkill, there were tire tracks made up of blood from 2 skunks (I guess both were killed next to each other). That was some huge pool of blood I saw with their parts floating. Not only floating, one of the heads of a headless skunk was rolling all over the lane as cars swept by. It was really disgusting. In addition, there was that stinky smell! On that day, I made sure I got a car wash to wash off all that animal residue from my tires! Sometimes I wish people could really slam on their brakes next time they come across an animal if they can. I know its not always that easy. Do any of you have this problem like I do?

Date: 6/13/2001 11:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 11367    This is a common problem which is almost impossible to avoid. We can't educate animals on how to cross the road, can we? The way you describe the scenes, I also find it repulsive just thru' imagination. The carcasses that I see on the roads are smaller, like cats, birds and rats. They are mainly flatten and you don't get to see the insides floating in the pool of blood. Hope u can get used to it one day ..... don't know if anyone can.
Date: 6/13/2001 11:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 31689    The road I live on is always littered with dead animals. Especially deer. It's pretty depressing to have to go by them every day, and they usually sit there for months and months before it gets cleaned up. It's disgusting. Especially when you can actually smell it. I try my hardest to avoid hitting anything.

Date: 6/14/2001 11:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 24758    I understand what you're saying. It may sound funny but whenever I run over roadkill it makes me want to pee my pants.
Date: 6/14/2001 12:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 30996    That is really gross, what moon angel said. is that true.
Anyway, I feel bad for the animals, and I think the animal control should be in every town, some towns dont have them, so you are stuck with the problem I guess.Speed

Date: 6/14/2001 12:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 25828    never had it that bad but i do see it much too often - always makes me sad - especially the ones close the edge of the road where it looks like the person had to swerve just to hit the little thing...it's awful

Date: 6/14/2001 3:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    Well...I'm an animal lover from way back. I've had pets of all sorts, shapes, and sizes. However, if it's a decision between hitting an animal, or slamming on your breaks and possibly causing an accident, killing yourself or others...well...it's a no brainer. It's a sad fact of the roadways. Doesn't make me happy...just the opposite, but true.
