Green was as far as the eyes wanted to see it Gold was the sun on each blade of wheat It was only by the mind that the eyes could feel it And the body could only imagine its source of heat
Endless were the bare hills lined before me Movement was not present nor the wind Sounds were only heard from imagination And I didn't know the direction I was heading in
No effort needed to heed to the adventure Like in an invisible plane the earth around me turned Frozen still with no reason for departure It all came to me as though it had returned:
Once upon a time there was a man Who sang a sad song as he walked the land When he died he left his voice in the sand One day I'll watch the ocean and understand
Through the doors and into a winter's storm Hushed well by the snow that was formed In a forest dark and left unwarmed By the evil and its magical charm
Singing songs of nonsense out of tune Two friends shared a walk in the afternoon One was carrying an umbrella and balloon The other pretending that it might rain soon
Over misty mountains and through dales An adventure by land and by sails To search for power that prevails In a treasure hidden neath the dragon's scales
Far away up in space and hard to see A young man cleans and tends to his tree As he looks beyond the stars for a destiny And now his dreams are shared by me
Sleepy eyes wanting more but can't look Enough of the adventures that I took I then turned and stepped out of the book
