Date: 5/23/2001 6:31:00 AM From Authorid: 15228 I think they should, I just can't see what benifit it has, plus with all the failures in cloning of animals do we really want to see a repeat in humans? What is the point to cloning a human anyway???...Kelly |
Date: 5/23/2001 6:34:00 AM From Authorid: 25390 I think it's cruel to all the humans they might have messed up on. What are they going to do with them? Treat them like science experiments and just "exterminate" them? I think that's wrong. Also, people are individuals...no one is the same. That's what makes a person unique. Why would you want to copy that? Doesn't make any since to me. I think they should ban it, but I know that someone's going to do it anyway.... |
Date: 5/23/2001 6:45:00 AM From Authorid: 34341 Well, I don't believe that the government should allow franchises of "Clones R Us" on every street corner, if that's what you mean. Leave it within the scientific community to see what the potential of it is for now. They shouldn't be trying to clone a whole human being, anyway. Cloning should be reserved for making organs that people need for transplants, like kidneys, livers, hearts, etc...<glock> |
Date: 5/23/2001 7:03:00 AM From Authorid: 21266 YES!! OH DEFFO YES!! For goodness sake, humans shud be "created" by God and not HUMANS!!!!!! |
Date: 5/23/2001 7:10:00 AM From Authorid: 16865 What glock said. Plus, if they ban human cloning then it could end up int he wrong hands. Why not let the people with morals, who aren't trying to breed humans for organs or slavery, work out the kinks? But I think they should be trying to clone organs not the whole human. |
Date: 5/23/2001 7:12:00 AM From Authorid: 16865 Absz... there is invetro fertilization where a child is "conceived" in a petri dish. So basically "god" or other forces of nature didn't "create" it, man did. Are you against that as well? And if not, why? |

Trouble is ... once the "genie is out of the bottle" it can't be put back. Even if outlawed, some mad scientist somewhere would be working on clones. I'm in two minds on this at the moment. |
Date: 5/23/2001 8:02:00 AM From Authorid: 16950 YES!!! This is the worst thing to me! I cannot stand the thought of people "playing God!" Drives me nuts even thinking about it & infuriates me as well as sickens me all at the same time. So I will say no more. Take good care everyone & Bless you all! Love & hugs, |
Date: 5/23/2001 8:18:00 AM From Authorid: 12637 Not until something goes horribly wrong! hahah, Ryphis |
Date: 5/23/2001 8:29:00 AM From Authorid: 16069 Yes, I think they should stop now. I doubt it will be stopped though. Its way too freaky to me! Plus, how would you feel if you were a clone? Crazy crazy world! |
Date: 5/23/2001 9:09:00 AM From Authorid: 5886 I don't think it should be banned YET! We don't know enough about it, so we might find something very useful. Unfortinatly, if we start geneticly engineering soldiers or stuff like that, then I would start thinking about it being banned (unless aliens invade and we are too weak to handle them. lol.) |
Date: 5/23/2001 9:12:00 AM From Authorid: 33817 No, the government should not ban human cloning. Strict guidelines and regulations should be researched, reviewed and imposed, but there is no way it should be banned altogether. Banning ideas is ostrich-like behavior. Meanwhile, while we ignore the idea of human cloning, China, et al, will continue forward, creating better and better humans. Safety is the issue here, not ignorance. Besides, we've already banned cloning live, complete humans, so the point is pretty moot anyway. POWER1 |
Date: 5/23/2001 9:38:00 AM From Authorid: 18551 actually, last i heard, the us government did not ban cloning at all...it only banned government aid for cloning. big difference. private labs, individuals, etc, are free to try. |
Date: 5/23/2001 12:51:00 PM From Authorid: 31783 glock, Dotchi, and POWER1 make good points. My thoughts are akin to theirs. Jetamio |
Date: 5/23/2001 2:07:00 PM From Authorid: 33817 Unless Im mistaken, Mitziss (and I often am), Clinton signed something right before he left office banning the cloning of whole humans in the US. Anyone else have the 411 on this? POWER1 |
Date: 5/23/2001 2:34:00 PM From Authorid: 27678 Bush already did. I posted the article. Free Girl |
Date: 5/24/2001 9:31:00 AM From Authorid: 18551 all the articles i found said he supports the ban, and would pass a bill if one was presented to him. i cant find anything where it has actually been banned yet, just the federal funding part by clinton. looks like if bush has his way, it will be, thank goodness...apparently, federal statutes are being hashed out. let me know if you find anything newer than what i found, march 29th....thanks |
Date: 8/21/2002 2:37:00 PM From Authorid: 16376 yes!!! I am completely against it... |
