Do those plug in pest control devices work?

Please help me I'm desperate. I've tried everything..mouse traps, glue traps, mice cubes. I even put out some D-Con poison last night. I cleaned out my cabinets and kitchen drawers yesterday. It was a disgusting job that took all day practically. I don't have many, just a few mice but one is too many I think. Anyway have any of you tried the plug in pest control devices? They are supposed to emit a high frequency level of sound that repels mice, roaches, spiders and a lot of other stuff. It kind of sounds to good to be true. Hope its not. Anybody have any advice to get rid of these nasty things? If I have to look at any more rat poo, I'm going to go insane. Please help. I pride myself on keeping a clean house. Now, I feel like everything is polluted. Thanks ahead of time. Dust Bunny

Date: 5/17/2001 10:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 14754    I Have Not Tried Them..Or Have Not Heard Anyone Try Them, The Last Time I Had A Mouse In My House, I Used One Of Those Sticky Pads..It Worked Great..He Stuck To It And Then I Just Put Him Out In The Trash..Slow Way To Die..But Heck, I Dont Scream No More...Good Luck!!
Date: 5/17/2001 10:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 3538    I never tried that before,I really don't think it would work, but you should try it,just in case it does!
Date: 5/17/2001 11:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 23207    I have one in my house. Although I have a cat so mice aren't a problem. I would say they help. Maybe not totally, but somewhat.
Date: 5/18/2001 4:39:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    I don't think they do a thing.... except annoy the crap outta ya!what i found to work really well (if you can stand the smell!) is a few mothballs tossed into the cabinets (don't put them in any cabinets with food!) I left them in there for about a week...just long enough to make sure the critters REALLY left! Peppermint oil works well, too....but I don't think as good as the mothballs!
Date: 5/18/2001 5:33:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Mercury, I had bought some mothballs. I was going to put them underneath the house. I know this repels snakes so I thought it might work for mice too.
Date: 5/18/2001 5:37:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Thanks guys. If I find something that works I'll pass it on.
Date: 5/18/2001 1:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 22065    YES! The Pest Offense works! Its the device that you plug in. You can get details from the info-mercial on TV. I have 2 of them, I had allot of spiders and others yucky insects, once in a while I'll see a spider like maybe 1 a week, before I was seeing at least 2 or 3 a day! The reason I have 2 of them is because I have a 3 story home. It takes about 2 weeks to start working, but I really have been happy with the results. And it's safe with pets.
Date: 5/20/2001 8:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 17525    Lemme give you some advice about a mousetrap! Its the best way, but you have to do a couple tricks with them. 1. bend the trip up a little so it's a hair-trigger. 2. put a "RAISIN" on the bait. Jam it under those little teeth so the mouse has to pull. You'll get one every time. I tried eveything too until I hit on the rasin, now....there's no escaping! ;-)
Date: 5/20/2001 8:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 17525    Oh and another thing. If you find the hole they are coming in, jam some steel wool into it and cover it with plaster, wood, caulk, whatever it was originally. They cant chew thru the steel wool, it cuts up their mouth. Good luck
Date: 5/21/2001 7:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 22065    The only problem with mouse traps is sometimes if the trap doesn't kill em' right away and they are able to move, then die, your stuck with a dead mouse that you can't find..
Date: 5/21/2001 8:06:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Thanks for your help guys. Here's the update its been a week since I cleaned out all that mice poo underneath my cabinets. Since then, I've seen no sign of them. They just disappeared. I'm not going to celebrate just yet though. The poison I set out still looks untouched so I don't think its that. If they come back I think I might try that plug in thing. I appreciate your help 22065. Although I think I'll try the cheaper version plug in that they have at Wal-Mart. Never heard of baiting with a raisin Osiris. I was using cheese and peanut butter. Thanks for your help also.
