I would have to agree that it is hard to believe that this sub. teacher would say this to a child!! If she did..I would definately say something to a principal to make sure that she doesn't substitute anymore..kids at that age aren't real sure of themselves as it is and need all of the encouragement they need especially from adults who are supposed to be mature..i thought kids were the ones who did all of the picking  |

Take it to whoever got her that job in the first place and make sure she gets fired! Principals and Supers work the best. A Teacher, Substitute or not, shouldn't step on a child's self-esteem like that. If anything, they are supposed to be a person students can trust and they should support and help students.  |

Diana, first of all, these teachers have power and if you go there with the wrong attitude, she could cause you problems. But I do think you should have a conversation with the principal perhaps, just to show your daughter some support. I homeschool and this is one reason why. I will not allow others to attack my children's self esteem and make them feel bad because that person is on some kind of power trip. Teachers think they are smarter than the parents and many of them don't even like their jobs. And hate kids! I just don't understand why people like that even work in the feild. I feel your pain and frustration and I would want to do the same thing as you. Just because someone has a college education doesn't mean they are GOD. And many of these so-called experts don't have a lick of common sense and should be reigned in. Perhaps they should be charged with "emotional abuse", if they hurt your child's feelings. Parents have their children taken away from them for the same thing, everyday in this country. We need to make the public servants act like servants instead of tyrants over us. God Bless. Thank you all!I am haveing a meeting With a board member this after noon! Aparently the Teacher who calmed my daughter went right to the principle and he called me today!I don't care this woman should be fired.I will fill you in on the outcome.((((Hugs))) You all made me feel much better!This morning my daughter says, "I feel sorry for that woman, she deserves to be in trouble but I know you would stick up for me!"
