Dreams of a dead cousin

I was just thinking about this for some reason. I recently talked to my ex boyfriend who is also my children's dad which is why we are still talking. Anyway, we were talking about his cousin that died. They had been inseparable when they were younger, but his cousin, David, lived in Louisiana when my ex moved here to Nebraska. Well, David got cancer (so young) and he passed away. My ex and I were still together then, so we went down there for the funeral. I had never seen my ex cry up until that point. He was devastated. It has been about 4 years ago, and he still gets very emotional about it and misses David alot. I had only met him once on a trip to Louisiana about a year prior to his death, but I really liked him and he was very kind to me and my son. Well, ever since his death, my ex has been having dreams about him every once in awhile. Usually he dreams that he is talking to him, and David tells him how to straighten his life out and do right by me and his children, then walks off to the graveyard saying "I have to go back now". In the last dream, my ex said that they were riding in the car down the highway just talking when David told him that he "had to get back". My ex said he then floated out of the car. My ex continued to drive down the Louisiana highway (there are big fences on the side of the roads to keep gators from crossing the interstate) and David was on the other side of the fence walking. My ex said he kept trying to pull over, but David just waved and said he'd talk to him later and he walked farther away, but instead of the swamp, he was walking to a graveyard. My ex said he then woke up and thought he was going to call David to talk to him and it took him a while to realize that it would be impossible to do that. I just have this feeling that maybe his spirit is visiting my ex. He's heard a lot of opinions on the subject, like maybe David has "unfinished business". I told my ex that maybe David comes to him because he can't let David go. Has anyone ever heard of spirits talking to someone in their dreams? I've had dreams about ppl in my family who have passed, but nothing really significant. I think maybe it gives him a little comfort though, because then he still gets to see David in a sense.

Makes me wonder about the power of dreams.
