on love (this is a nice poem)

"I'll master it," said the axe, and his blow fell heavily on the
iron. But every blow made his edge more blunt and he finally
ceased to strike. " I'll show you the way," said the saw, "these
teeth of mine will cut through anything." But the saw soon left
the job defeated and broken. "I'll show you the way," said the
hammer, but after the first mighty blow, the iron remained
unscarred. "Shall i try?" said the soft small flame; the axe, saw
and hammer all despised the flame, but the flame curled
gently around the iron and embraced it, until it melted under it's
influence.

there are hearts in men and women hard enough to resist
the malice of wrath; the force of percussion; the fury of pride
but there is a power stronger than any of these, and hard indeed
is the heart that can resist love.
