I kinda know how you feel. I worked in a retail store for a few years and endured the same treatment. Of course part of the job entails customer service, and being courteous. My co-workers joked that I was a magnet for grumpy customers, but I could never figure out why. I always dressed in proper attire, groomed myself and am always on top of personal hygiene. So I tried even harder to be even more courteous. Eventually, I just chalked it off to the attitude of the customer, after i went out of my way to be pleasant, I just figured that they were the ones with the problem. Sometimes I think that they feel that it's their right to be grumpy or rude, because they are the customer. I don't work in retail anymore.  |

Hi Diana, I too seemed to be the only one they singled out, as I became known as the "Magnet". In my case, I changed jobs, I now work in a production plant. |

Perhaps you are TOO cheerful. I was a waitress for a few years and if I was in TOO good of a mood, I would get less in tips. It made absolutely no sense but it did happen. I had to find a 'middle ground', not too happy, not too rude and people would tip me just great. I still to this day do not understand it. : )  |
