You have a lot of questions....Where do you want to start? |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:05:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 Pick any of these and debate away... I'll be back later... |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:06:00 PM From Authorid: 27500 You need to think all these thing out for yourself and find the answers that work for you. |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:07:00 PM From Authorid: 19384 I can't debate alone...How about God giving us free will? |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:08:00 PM From Authorid: 16442 Oh lordy, I'm not even gonna go here right now, its waaaayyyyy to late!! Good night all. : ) |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:09:00 PM From Authorid: 27500 Well, Yardy? Do we have free will? |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:11:00 PM From Authorid: 8224 Dizzy Me. You've got some incredible questions and to answer them all would take all night but I'll answer two of them if I can. The human mind cannot even begin to comprehend that which is greater - so why try? As for the Bible - sorry but that is one subject I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole - far to contraversial and it's fertile ground for on going wars that never seem to end. As for free will when one looks at it, it's not only one of our greatest gifts but it is also one of our greatest down falls - it's like a sword - there's a worked at both ends. You certainly have an engaging mind - keeps everyone hopping on this site. Take care. Antona |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:11:00 PM From Authorid: 19384 That's what I believe. It makes it easier to accept all the bad in the world. It's the only thing that makes sense to me. You said it yourself...Find the answers that work for you, right? |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:13:00 PM From Authorid: 27500 No argument there. Have you heard the word "Timshel?" |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:15:00 PM From Authorid: 19384 I think so, but I don't remember the meaning. Wait...it means "You May" in Hebrew, right? Steinbeck? |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:18:00 PM From Authorid: 27500 Exactly! From "East of Eden." Makes sense to me. Do you remember the story? |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:18:00 PM From Authorid: 23610 Well...Dizzy...these are alot of questions. I'll start by saying that I believe that it is ridiculous for people to fight over God and whose God is the right God. We are all parts of God...all spun off and formed from parts of his energy. Fighting over him would be like your the foot fighting over the hand by saying that it was more important to the whole body. Then the heart jumps in on the fight and says, "but yeah, without me none of you would work"...and then the kidneys say..."but if I shut down, none of you would work"....blah...blah...blah. All parts are important to the whole and make up the whole. None of us know the whole truth...but all of us have bits and pieces of the truth. Instead of arguing over it, I believe that people should just have rational debates and discussions to get closer to the whole truth by sharing thoughts and ideas to learn from one another, instead of attacking one another. (Note...that is not why I'm saying you are doing...I'm generalizing). I'll think more about your other questions and get back to ya. Yeah, it's late...too much to think about right now. LOL. -Lady Nyx |
Date: 3/27/2001 10:18:00 PM From Authorid: 31290 IMHO, the first thing you need to understand, and it will honestly answer all of your questions if you just understand one thing, and that is that God loves you. What is love? Love is something you give freely, right? Otherwise it is worthless. For example, if I force you at knifepoint to love me, you can say "I love you! I love you!", but it is out of fear, it is not real love. Having said this, we have to understand that God gives everyone of us free will (including the person who turned out to be "lucifer" - he wasn't a demon at first, you know) and thus we have the choice to love God or to turn away from him. If he forced us with his power (which he certainly is capable of doing), then that love would not be voluntary, it would be hypnotism, blind, or false. God is so perfect that he gives us the freedom to love or not to love him. That is real love. Now its really up to you to do what you want to do. And another point is, why do you think God would intentionally mislead and confuse his children? He doesnt do that - he's constantly trying in every way possible thru many scriptures etc to turn you back to him. We're just all finding excuses to not do it. It's not that he "allows" sin. If I were your lover, would I say "I do not allow you to fall in love or become disloyal to me - that is an order!" You either sin against your lover or remain loyal - depending on the depth of your love, but in either case, it is voluntary. That is the basic rule of love. Think about it. It's really quite simple. We just need to change our vision from seeing God as some horrible dictator whose just screwing with our minds - in fact he's the exact opposite. He loves us so much, but does not force himself on us because he respects our free will. Yet, he's always there trying to remind us anyway.... |

Date: 3/27/2001 11:54:00 PM From Authorid: 27678 Hi ya Dizzy, Gee I'd love to answer all your questions, but hey, I'll just pick the ones I can answer, okay? LOL. God allows sin and evil to contrast the good things in life in order to allow us to gain appreciation for Him. If everything was perfect, what would be the point for Him to create the planet? Imagine you are God. Here you are with the ability to do anything. So you make the earth, the animals and all the plants. But hey, you want a bud to share this great creation with. You make Adam. Sure, you know Adam's gonna turn on you, but you create him just the same. You give him free will, cause you're hoping he'll just want to hang out in the garden with you, cuz you don't want a slave. You want a friend. Well, then you make Adam a companion, Eve. Someone to procreate with, cause you kinda like this creation, this man you've made and think a few more would be kinda nice. Then, you ask your friend to not do one thing, eat something that you don't want him to eat. Kinda like asking a bud not the drink the last beer in the fridge. Know what I mean? Well, Eve is approached by the serpent, a crafty creature intent on getting back at God for kicking him out of Heaven when he had such plans for running the show himself. After all, his vanity made him believe he could do a better job than God at running things, right? Back to Adam and Eve. Well, God gets upset over the betrayal of the eating of the fruit. He takes away the knowledge of good and evil that these two lovebirds had already possessed. Now they don't know nuthin' anymore. They have to work now at making a living. Eve has to bear the children in pain, whereas before she didn't. She's saved in childbirth, though, as the Bible says this. God decides to see what will happen if He is able to get across that there are just a few laws (only about 600, I think) to abide by and these will cause people to have safety, happiness and His eternal blessings. But hey, by now, Adam and Eve are pretty upset with God for kicking them out of the garden. So they continue their rebellion up to this day in time and here we are. And how many of our own stupid laws do we have to abide by? Hundreds of thousands, I am sure. I know that one day I will see God's face. The Bible tells me this and I have chosen to believe this. I know that He is real, cause although I didn't believe in Him for 30 years, except for off and on when I needed Him, He showed me that He can be my friend and be there, like no other friend ever has or ever could be. And one other thing. I've had the same and many more questions that you have raised and I think that God doesn't want us to know it all, cause if we did, what would be the purpose of faith? We are to believe in Him regardless of our doubt and if we do, He will surely show Himself to anyone who wants to know Him. Wouldn't that only be fair and the way a true friend would be? Free Girl |
Date: 3/27/2001 11:56:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 Ok, Free Girl, why did God allow the serpent into the garden in the first place? He KNEW that they would be tempted and he KNEW what would happen, but he let it happen anyways. WHY? |
Date: 3/28/2001 12:21:00 AM From Authorid: 27678 Maybe He just wanted to see if they would do the right thing, and hey, they didn't. Sorry, I ain't no scholar. Free Girl |

I mean sometimes when we love someone we must let them still learn right? Hope you dont think Im wanting to battle cause I wont even begin to on this subject because well I wont but since a debate and you had so many whys I hope you know Im just trying to give you some of what I think that helps me keep my faith that God only knows why and hope that I can keep faith when sometimes its hard..bye 4 now ~Family Matters~ |
Date: 3/28/2001 5:19:00 AM From Authorid: 18201 Once again, I'm not disappointed by the post. You make some very interesting points here...Since you're speaking from a christian point of view, however, I'd have to narrow my responses in a big way... 1) I think some religions were, but not religion as a whole...2) I, myself, believe that there are many gods, and that no one can or ever will understand the nature of "god"...3) That, I agree with 110%...4) I think "new souls" follow evil paths as a lower level f their evolution...5) If he didn't love them, he'd strike them dead on the spot, I think...6) Tricky question, but in my belief, all angels are gods, each represents a smaller aspect of the whole...7) 1st point, I'm not touching; 2nd point, It's quite possible, and most likely very probable...8) I agree with the latter, whatever creator you believe in, he/she is in everything you see...Final) I have plenty of free will deceit and sin are part of evolution...you have to make mistakes to learn from them... Well, that's my lot...Take care, and Bright Blessings. ~*~VaiaMoonShadow~*~ |

Wow!! Lot's of questions, and I can't pretend I know all the answers, but i'll answer as many as I can to the best of my knowledge, and I hope they help. I don't think Satan would create religion, otherwise, y didn't he get everybody to worship him. He would have put himself in the 'God' position and everyone would be doing wrong - does that make sense. If not, tell me and I'll try to explain it a bit better. I don't think there are some people who are destined to follow Satan cos that's not God's will. Everyone is given a choice and the people who do follow Satan have made a choice to follow him. God's ultimately would like everyone to follow him, but we have the choice. God does love everybody - Every person has a soul and a spirit. God just hates some of the things we do. I don't agree with a lot of things and there are a lot of things that I feel are against God's will. But it's hate the sin and not the sinner which is what I try to practice. God knew Lucifer was going to decieve him. Yet he decided to carry on creating him. Just like he knew Adam and Eve would. He does everything for a reason and it was probably to make us and all the angels stronger. I can't pretend I know why he did it - if it was me I don't think I'd bother. Isn't it good that God isn't human - we wouldn't be here!! Hopefully we'll get to see God - I think it will be a beautiful thing to finally see him face 2 face. I know a song and the words are basically 'I shall see him for myself' And it really will be a great thing!!!! God gave us free will cos he didn't want us to be robots. He didn't want to just tell us what to do. He gave us all the resources we needed, now it's up to us to follow them. He knew that it would be hard, but the Bible says that he'll never give us more that we can bear. So he knew that we could handle it. I hope this helps!! |

I never thought about that....I don't know if you will see god or hear him or if he can be seen...Deceite is allowed because if god didn't give us the opportunity to mess up, we would all be perfect and striving for nothing. |
Date: 3/28/2001 8:00:00 AM From Authorid: 15232 These are some of the questions that I find myself thinking about while drifting off into dreamland while bored at work! I know what you mean, there are just too many questions, and no way to get answers. The only thing we can do is just believe in our God/Gods/Goddesses (whichever you prefer) and wait it out. I don't think there is a way for any of us to know the answers to these questions right now. We'll just have to wait and see. |

Date: 3/28/2001 9:12:00 AM From Authorid: 20296 wow dizzy...many things to answer here. I will start at the top this is my own opinion so some of you who like to come in and speak in a condesending manner and quote all your "bible" talk...leave me alone. I am speaking my own mind, not reading out of a book so here I go.... |
Date: 3/28/2001 9:16:00 AM From Authorid: 20296 I do not believe in "satan" personally. I believe in something akin to "evilness" in man...much the same as "satan". yes I believe that the bible and religion was created by man. I do not just read the words or listen to the sermon, I "pray" to "god" and believe that he provides the answers. I do not believe that I can be tricked for I have told my god my intentions and it is his job to make sure I am not deceived, for I am not as powerful as the devine being. my eyes and heart in tune with goodness, for the most part, or at the very least when I am in prayer or meditation |
Date: 3/28/2001 9:18:00 AM From Authorid: 20296 I believe their is only one "right" higher power and if we are a little confused to the right way to reach him or her, they will understand as long as our intentions were good. Date: 3/28/2001 9:48:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 Hey CBlossom, you say you pray to God, right? Well, so do I. But my religion teaches that we should pray to Jesus, which I think is a bit odd. Why would God want us to pray to Jesus? I have asked this question before and I always get the answer that we must go through Jesus to get to God... |
Date: 3/28/2001 9:51:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 Blue Knight, You say if God hadn't given us an oppurtunity to mess up we would be perfect and striving for nothing. Then I would have to stop and wonder if maybe God forgave them for all that they did and let them in anyways... |
Date: 3/28/2001 10:52:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 here is another question: What do you think we will look like in heaven? |
Date: 3/28/2001 10:54:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 CBlossom... i asked that question about God being one of us one time as a debate, I didn't get to many responses... But I think that who is to say he dosen't come down here every once in a while to check on people...He could be anyone at anytime, anywhere. |
Date: 3/28/2001 10:55:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 If the bible is written by satan than he has done a pretty good job of fooling people. |
Date: 3/28/2001 10:56:00 AM From Authorid: 20296 I know, but if god can forgive them for their hideous crimes, well I could be acting a little more sinful then and feel assured that I will also get my place in heaven. doesnt that in itself just make sin seem a little more "tempting"??? and is that fair for those of us, who basically started out "behaving"???? |
Date: 3/28/2001 10:59:00 AM From Authorid: 20296 yes, dizzy...I do not believe in satan...really not the way others may. but havent some peeps said he is the MASTER of deception???? yet the fail to see that he could do it to them in the most horrendous of ways??? I keep my eyes on what I consider to be "god" or foolala...I try not to look elsewhere, so if someone comes and stands in the middle of my path, it is not my fault if I still think it is my god I am looking at. It would be like me allowing some horrid person to go into my kids bedroom at night with my voice and my face and "decieve" my children with lies and then punish them later for believing it was I all along. doesnt THAT seem unfair???? be back later |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:04:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 CBlossom, I see what you mean about the whole sin thing. But I guess maybe if they were ginuinly (sp?) sorry for all that they had done, and God knew that in thier hearts they were sorry then maybe that is why they would be allowed into heaven. But i wonder how all the Jews who died in Hitlers death camps would feel if God allowed Hitler into heaven? |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:42:00 AM From Authorid: 9295 Well, I personally believe that God is neither omnipotent nor omniscient, but that's just me. And, if I saw Hitler and Dahmer standing at the gates of heaven, I guess I'd think that all those people who don't believe in hell must've been right all along. |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:44:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 Well, if there is no hell Nova, then what is the point of being good and trying not to sin if you know you'll get to heaven anyways? (Kinda like what CBlossom said above) |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:46:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 Another thing what makes you think that God isn't all poerful or all knowing? Please explain that to me Nova. |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:47:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 ^^^ powerful, sorry bout the spelling |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:53:00 AM From Authorid: 9295 Maybe hell is just a threat, kinda like telling kids the boogeyman will get them if they aren't good, ya know? Ok, here's my idea on the all-knowing/all-powerfull deal. I'm sure I'm "wrong" and people will get offended, but oh well.. If God were truly all-powerful, he wouldn't have needed 6 days for creation, nor would he have needed to rest a day. It would have been instantaneous. If God were all-knowing, what would be his point in creation? Why read a book when you know the ending? To me, an all-powerful/all-knowing entity would have no reason to exist. But that's just from a human standpoint I guess. |
Date: 3/28/2001 12:08:00 PM From Authorid: 16671 From Dizzy to sixgun:::::::: Six Gun, who says God has all the answers? Maybe he doesn't. :::::::: This is why I'm not going to bother wasting my time with answering these questions. Here's my two cents for what it's worth. . . I think of God as a parent. Our parents love us (or should) regardless of what we do. However, when we do things that are wrong, our Parents punish us. And when we do things that are good, they reward us. God is the same way. He's our Heavenly Father. I think it's possible that God does have a wife. Women in our society are often sexualized and degraded, so I think God kept her existence and identity from us, so we couldn't do the same to Her. I think God loves and respects Her too much to allow Her name be as defiled as His and His Son's are. Yes, I think we all will get to see God. In fact, I believe we will all HAVE to stand before him and make an accounting of our lives. How did we use the talents he gave us? What did we do to serve our fellow man? Did we keep his commandments? Etc. I believe God allows free will so that he can see who truly believes in Him and seeks to do His will. Also because there has to opposition in all things. If not, we would never truly understand joy, love, kindness, etc. And Finally, I believe Satan does have his hand in some religions, but not all. I also don't believe in destiny. That suggests that our futures are already determined, if that were so, that'd be a denial of our right to free will. There may be some who are more prone to follow Satan, but ultimately we all have control over our own lives and are responsible for our own actions. Well, there. That's what I believe anyway. melodious |

Nova (and anyone else who cares) - if you had the ability to create a world and all the people on it, would you do it? Even if you already knew how the people would act and how things would turn out? I imagine it must be fascinating for God to watch everything unfold. Could it be possible that there is a greater purpose for God creating us than just for the fun of it? I'm honestly not trying to bash you or anything, I'm just picking your brain to see what your thoughts are. . . The way the whole 6 days of creation and 7th day rest thing was explained to me is that it's meant to be symbolic. We work and play and do our thing for 6 days a week and on the 7th day we rest from our worldly cares and focus our attention on the things of God. Or at least that's what I was taught to do. God most certainly could have created everything instantaneously. But I think he was trying to teach a lesson, set an example, if you will, of how he wanted us to go about our work. elodious |
Date: 3/28/2001 4:17:00 PM From Authorid: 20296 LOL....you are a joke, fb and by the way not acting any thing like what I concider christain like....come to think about it...I think jesus never called ANYONE a troll, nor did he "get off" on telling others they were wrong. he did it out of love, you my dear, do it out of a sense of "superiority", a full blown ego, and a sense of only onesself.....IMO well.......LOL go ahead and say those famous words...NO CBLOSSOM LOLOLOLOLOL glad to entertain |

I noticed that you do not say you are 100 percent right about EVERYTHING and I appreciate it I do not ask questions to "hurt" my god...I think he wants me to "find" the truth and is proud of my efforts. I never doubt for a minute there is a god, a wonderful perfect "thing" my job is to figure out what , not who |

Mt:3: But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Mt:12:34: O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Mt3:33: Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Lk:3: Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? These are the words of Jesus. Now what was that you was saying Jesus would or would not do????????????? Sure if you want to tell everyone that I called you a troll after being baited to do so, go for it, it does not bother me. And about me being the type of Chrisitian YOU think I should be. I LOL at you. You can not judge me, only God can. Date: 3/28/2001 7:03:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 I guess i am stupid because i totally missed something you said above. When I told Sixgun that maybe God didn't have all the answers I meant that maybe God dosen't know all... Which is what Nova was getting into about saying maybe God isn't alll knowing and all powerful. I wasn't trying to disrespect God...not at all. |
Date: 3/28/2001 9:24:00 PM From Authorid: 16671 Yeah I saw nova, and I saw where you wanted us to read it and I did read it, but didnt see any point in argument there. I believe God is all knowing and knows the beginning from the end, and while HE created satan as an Angel, that was before He created earth. so the question is when he created earth did He know that satan was going to rebell against him? I think He did but still had to finsish playing this spiritual game out. |
Date: 3/28/2001 11:48:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 9130 FB-- why would he play the game if he knew the outcome, what would be the point? |

From Authorid: 31077
outch see how hard these topic's can be to answer...I still like the fact that we can all try to answer with words and not anger as who learns or better yet who hears when we yell (nobody) yet when we speak with just opinions we might help shed light..I like how even with different thoughts you all was able to speak on a subject you had questions to....dont see this all the time on posts...which its great and shows what a debate can equal:-) ~Family Matters~ |
Date: 3/29/2001 10:26:00 AM From Authorid: 27678 Dizzy, Perhaps God is playing the game, although, He knows the outcome, because He is hoping that mankind will change their ways, do what is right, and repent of their evil. Then the outcome would change. Do you understand that? I am fasinated everytime these debates appear and I just love reading the complexities that are created surrounding God. God is very simple. He created us, asked us to follow some simple rules to make life easier for us and Him, and promises us immortal life if we succeed in doing what is right in our lives. What is so complicated about all of that? Firstborn, I am suprised at you saying that maybe God doesn't have all the answers. He does. We don't get all the answers because we don't deserve them. We are to build our faith and wait patiently for understanding and wisdom. Boy, did this post get heated up!! Take care, all my friends. Free Girl |
Date: 3/29/2001 11:14:00 AM From Authorid: 16671 OK, Dizzy, God created man so that He would have fellowship as man had and has the free will to fellowship with Him or not. And I guess another reason He allowed things to happen is so that people like you would be on this earth to ask question. What if He never finished His plan, or made one in the first place, where would you be now? Would you have a soul somewhere? Would you have ever been made? Think about it. The fact is we are here, He did create us and we have to figure out what to do with all this. Not only that we will have an after life and we have to deal with this also. There is no, would have, should have, or could have, there is the here and now and the after life. Which do you choose? |
Date: 3/29/2001 12:14:00 PM From Authorid: 9295 Hey Free Girl, if God was all knowing he'd know if the outcome was going to change beforehand. Their would be no hope, wonder, mystery, or questioning of any kind for a being who is all knowing. He would know who was going to follow the rules and who wasn't before the fact, making creation a moot point. This is one of those things I'm where I'm just gonna have to wait till I die to find out I guess. |
Date: 3/29/2001 1:22:00 PM From Authorid: 16671 God is all knowing NOva, and if we listen we can know alot also, but I think that by giving us hope, wonder, mystery, He is allow us free will to choose and that is what it all comes down to. If he just wanted a bunch of clones that would worship HIM because HE said so , he could have made them too but He gives us a choice. |
