Is it wrong to eat meat?

I know some people like meat because it taste good. Also it's for survival. But did anyone ever think before they ate, what the animal went through when the people had slaughtered it? I'm asking, because this ALWAYS comes to mind. I've seen shows where I see men shooting deer in the woods, cows and chickens getting their necks chopped off in the slaughter house with an ax (whatever torture weapons they use), monkeys getting spears struck thru their bodies, Cheetahs getting fried in some fire, etc.I think it's ENTIRELY disgusting and sad. It makes me feel very bad when I see these things on t.v. And when my mom asks me if I want steak for dinner, things from t.v. come to mind and I feel like puking and i feel sadness, too, because all of what the animals went thru when they were getting killed. When I was in the Philippines, there was a slaughter house by the road. we were driving around. I saw some caribous chained up. One caribou was getting slaughtered with a spear by one person and a fork-like weapon by another person. I saw blood splattered all over the place! That caribou was crying for it's life! I was given a burger that night, and I thought about the slaughter house. I ate the burger anyway, but I thought to myself, "A poor animal gave up it's life by having people beat them with axes, spears, forks brutally and vigorously. And I'm taking part of that animal into me, an animal that took all that beating, just to satisfy the humans. That animal was HARDLY EVER given a choice, whether to continue it's life or to have some humans end it's life for it. Eating this food is not right, because it shows I'm supporting that idea of killing the animals." OK. You all might not agree with me. I know meat has vitamins we all need. But look around. There's so many other foods that will "make-up" for the meat. There's plently that will give you vitamins that meat can give you. I think eating meat is so wrong. Just look at the torture they go through! Millions of em are killed each day just for the humans! And don't you all agree that killing people is wrong? If so, do you think killing animals is wrong too (even though if it's for food)? Do you think people should eat what is grown on trees, bushes, fields, and other things that don't involve animals or other living things of any sort? I'm not telling people to stop eating meat. It's your choice. But I just want people to think before they eat. Do they ever feel sorry for what happened to the living source that the meat came from? Do you feel it's right? My choice was to stop eating meat. I still get thee same nutrients that I got from meat (when I was not a vegetarian). I'm proud that I stopped. I feel that I'm not supporting the idea of killing animals and that I'm showing how I understand that animals have a life to live just as humans do. They should be able to continue it. I know it's not gonna stop, but I'm just doing some "sacrificing" for now. You all might not agree with me, but I just wanted to speak out for the animals cuz I care for them more than anything else.

But I just like meat too much. i'm not meaning this to sound mean or anything, but I think of it this way. If an animal was hungry enough...it would eat me as well. Sorry if that upset you =Odd=

Date: 3/25/2001 10:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 15033    I don't eat meat except maybe once every month or two. It is the lowest grade of Protein there is, and it actually wares your body down trying to digest what little nutrients are in it. I agree with what you are speaking of here. I think it places 'bad ju ju' on the meat. Being part Native American I was taught HOW you hunt and kill an animal for SURVIVAL is extremely important. Braves were taught to be so quiet when they approached the animal, and kill it with accuracy so precise that one arrow or bullet killed it instantly, hence, no adrenaline in the blood from fear, which poisons the meat. I believe this is why people are getting old far before their time. Another thing that adds to the destructive properties is the hormones and additives in the animals food...it is sick what we are doing for the sake of mass production. That is all I have to share on my views, thank you for allowing me to speak them...Love,
