When I was only 3
Time said to me
Please wait
The world is far too large
And you're hardly in charge
I promise I won't be late
So Time said to me

Outside the world changed
Like my eyes had rearranged
How the sun would rise
And how things never died
And when I was 5
Time said to me
You're still barely alive
So please wait
Then the world became large
Its edges began to bend
When I was only 10
And Time said once again
Please wait
You can while away my hours
Watching bees in the flowers
Don't worry about me
My days with you are free
And Time made me see
That I could wait
Soon impatient I became
And Time I did blame
I was already 16
When life turned to a dream
And Time was left behind
And I couldn't see it ahead
But Time still said
Please wait
Growing past 20
Time now my enemy
Deceiving me with promises
Distorting the world
When it's small I don't fit in it
When it's large I become lost
Then I asked Time
Who is your boss?
Years have gone by
Time doesn't tell me why
So I refuse to hear
Time whisper in my ear
"Please wait"
