I once was a princess living a life of wealth and charm. Now I'm a pauper My life filled with harm.
I once held a star That had shot straight from the sky. And as it rested in my palm, I watched my wishing star die.
I once heard angels whisper and they spoke to me alone, untill they lost their voices and retreated quietly home.
I once lived with magic, and eerie kind of power, and as I lived it died slowly by the hour.

I was once a princess But my castle crumbled to the ground. And where once my kingdom thrived Only ashes are to be found.
Now I hold a blade of grass quietly in my hand, Trying to remember the star, Trying to understand.
Now I listen for fairies for the angels are all gone. Maybe if I listen long enough they'll sing me a little song.
Now I live with nature Though magic it cannot replace. I figure no place has everything but everything has a place.
Now I am a peasant, working as the day is long. And as I look for castles I wonder what went wrong.
And if ever again I have a star to hold, an angel to whisper or magic to hold -
