Feeling a little chilled, but for some reason unable to reach for the bed sheets, I lay flat on my back in the massive king bed. The ceiling above transformed into a pale blue sky. Curly white clouds drifted lazily overhead and it seemed that I could smell the ocean.
"Neat," I thought,"but why can't I move?" As I pondered this, the clouds above began to thicken and pick up speed as if driven by a hard wind. Faster and faster they raced overhead. I was forced to shut my eyes to fight back the vertigo that threatened to overwhelm me."Ah, sweet darkness."
Still immobile, and now, quite concerned as to why, I felt small movements in the bed to either side of my position. Fear began to take hold. Visions of me, in the center of a huge web, the barely discernible vibrations of giant spiders, advancing towards their helpless victim.
I drew in a great lungful of air. The scream was meant to drive them away and afford some outlet for my panic. No sound. I could not even scream.
The movements continued and were accompanied by strange tinkling sounds, like glass being struck lightly or the high pitched laughter of young children. The sounds had a soothing effect, so that some of the fear went away.
The muscles in my neck bunched mightily as I tried, without success, to turn my head. The mattress moved slightly on either side of my upper body. The tinkling sound became soft whisphers and clucking noises. I felt the warmth and smelled the supple perfume of women.
Warm hands gently brushed against my fevered brow and my neck was unlocked. Even though my eyes would not open, I saw right through the eye-lids. Joy and regret overwhelmed me as I turned my head from one to the other. Running Moon and Moxie Almonester knelt, one on either side of me. Their beautiful profiles set against the racing sky. Dressed in the short skirt, made of spanish moss, worn by Karankawan maidens. They looked straight into each other's eyes, and gently patted each other's bosom three times. This was the way the Karankawa greeted strangers that reminded them of lost loved ones.
After this exchange, both women bent at the waist to look into my closed eyes. The long hair fell from their shoulders, making a dark canopy over my own head to shield me from the brightness of the racing sky. I looked into the two sets of eyes that hovered over me. Dark, still pools of water on a starlit night. Warm tears fell lightly onto my closed eyes. Joy and regret... .. ..
"Puke, hey Puke, wake up man. Mustang Rick will be here in a half hour." Crown Royal was shaking me and jabbering, "Come on Puke, get a move on will ya. We're gonna do some fishing dude. Come on man, wipe that stupid grin off your mug, we're heading on a Fishun Mission."...Cha You can join Unsolved Mysteries and post your own mysteries or interesting stories for the world to read and respond to Click hereScroll all the way down to read replies.Show all stories by Author: 21435 ( Click here )
