...Canada is not as defenceless as we lead other countries to believe. Since 1948, top secret programs have been in effect to train native wildlife in the arts of warcraft. Just imagine, if you will, the nondescript little pond-dwelling beaver with a rocket launcher, or, the "stealth moose". I wish that I could relate more about these projects, but these are things known only to Canadians. I'm personally working on an invention of my own... the cat litter box land mine. I do agree with you on the possibility of global unrest due to the depletion of resources. Humans definitely need to devise new sources of energy, sustenance and accomodation. |

As it stands, we will deplete our resources till there are virtually none left. That is were space mining will come into play. That asteroid that is supposed to come close to the earth is to be the building blocks for future mining expeditions. Asteriods are made mostly of ice and rock. Sooo...with all the water and other material we can get from space we will never run out again. This is where we are in a race for our very lives. If we cannot get into space in time to take advantage of all of these resources we may not have enough people left in order to go out there to get all that space has to offer. -Universal Traveler- |

I watch Discovery Channel as well, and have no doubt you are correct. In a decade or 2 water wars will change the political/social landscapes. Watch for China, they are already in trouble in the inner regions. They will have the steeps turned into desert within 10 years. The former Evil Empire has polluted and mismanaged entire bodies of water within their own borders as well.( some of their fresh water lakes have banished!) |

yup yup yup...thats what is going to happen. and why? because the majority of the world's population is greedy and doesn't care. thats why. |

Now you know why NASA is so determined to finding another planet that allows humans to live on |

would have to agree that the population is growing and water is depleteing but I also have to say a few won't live. We all will be fine because Nostradomus said that we won't actuall y have a real problem such as that for thousands of years-when eventually space travel is so advanced that we can leave the planet. And we do. |

This stuff is all common sense..not intelligent. I don't agree with your asteroid prediction, because asteroids are nearing Earth all the time...it is quite possible that one will collide with us, but if that happens (like it has happened in the past), the chances are too slim for it to be of considerable size as to cause mass destruction to our planet! If there was going to be a big collision, then it probably would have happened by now (think about the laws of probability); Think of how long the world has existed, and you'll realise that the chances of something like this happening in OUR lifetime are FAR too slim -- Dynamite174 |

Could happen. |

Magenta Blue is correct to a point. We are in this mess because of greed. But the majority of the world's population are too poor to be greedy, they are needy. It's that small, incredibly small, percentage of the world who's insatiable greed has exploited the earth and it's resources (including people). jb |

dun think it will happen. many countries have desalination (sp?) capabilities, meaning can turn salt water into drinking water. plus north and south pole icebergs another huge water resource. i predict diseases more likely to wipe out human civilisation. we have madcow in europe, chicken, pork and fish in asia. this is scary man. |
