You came to me when my life was a mess
I had no dreams or happiness.
You helped me see and to believe
That I still have a chance and should no longer deceive.

You did everything that no one else had been able to,
The words you spoke did make my heart move
And I ended up falling in love with you.

Thanks to you I believe in myself
But my feelings for you I still kept on a shelf.
I was afraid, oh so scared of being burned
Even though to speak my heart I yearned.

You encouraged and pushed,
But my defense couldn't be mushed.
I wanted so much
To be lost with your every word and touch.

I could think about how I felt
But I couldn't have dealt
The blow to my pride
That I should have pushed so far aside.

Because of my defense I lost you.
Because of my pride I lost you.
Because of my ignorance I lost you.
Because of my independence I lost you.
Because you were the best thing that ever happened to me I lost you.
Because you knew what I needed to turn my life around I lost you.
Because you loved me I lost you.
