St. Louis Cemetaries, Number 1 and Number 2,New Orleans, Louisiana hold two unmarked, graffiti-covered tombs, are thought to contain the remains of the 'two' Marie Laveaus.Even today, people leave vodoo offerings, mark an X for good luck, or knock three times to summon her spirit. Many believe Laveau's spirit can be seen as a large black crowthat flies over the tombs. One man claimed that the ghost of Marie slapped him across the face and floated to the ceiling, when he failed to acknowledge her presence in a drugstore in the French Quarter. The scene was witnessed by the owner of the store. Others claim she takes the form of a large black dog that roams through the cemetaries. Her'ghost' is still seen presiding over Voodoo rituals deep within the swamp, along with her followers.32 DEGREE How it changed my life:None really. Have been to both cemetaries and seen the two tombs.Left an X on both for good luck.Since no one really knows which 'real' or the 'first' Marie is burried in, if she is still burried at all, visiting both tombs really couldn't hurt, could it?
