There are many out there claiming the world will end in the year 2000, 2001, 2002, and so on. Many books have been written by those claiming to have received visions from God telling them the world is going to end in 1962, 1976, 1984, 1985, 1990, and 1995. These years have come and gone uneventful and inspite of this there are those who still claim the world is going to end on such and such year and date. These claims are not only written in books which have sold by the millions but this same sermon is preached from many pulpits by those who are self-proclaimed prophets as well as ministers. This is why the Scriptures plainly says:"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15. Why does the Scriptures tell us this? So you can know for yourself exactly what the Scriptures teach and not be led into error resulting from false doctrines and false teachings. This is another perfect example as to how Satan distorts the character of Christ and His written word solely designed to mislead many into thinking the Lord does not mean what He plainly says surrounding His coming...
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." 2 Peter 3:10.
"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame." Revelation 16:15.
Jesus has plainly foretold what shall come to pass prior to His coming along with signs in the heavens and upon the earth. If one would simply sit down and read in the Scriptures what He said regarding the end times they wouldn't be misled by those who claim to be prophets of Christ telling them when He is going to come again for He never taught this nor is it Scriptural for He plainly said:"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Matt.24:36-39. Jesus also warns us with the following..."Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Matt.24:23-27.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:6-8.
If the angels in the heavenly courts don't know the day or hour of the Lord's coming what makes you think mankind would know? Jesus plainly said no one including the angels know only the Father knows the exact day and hour of the Lord's coming. There are many signs indicating His soon coming but to predict or even suggest when He is coming is a dangerous and deceptive practice for Jesus has made himself very plain regarding this and if many would study and heed His plain warning surrounding His coming much fear and confusion would be avoided and Satan's scheme would be nullified. There are still many to this very day who still proclaim from the pulpit, TV talk shows, and best sellers inspite of their proven errors and falsehoods the exact day of the Lord's coming but many people still buy into this lie simply because they will not heed the word of the Lord and believe a lie. Another scheme Satan has invented in the minds of self-proclaimed prophets and seers is to suggest the coming of the Lord instead of predicting which is just as bad as predicting His coming.
That is like saying aiding and abetting a criminal which is just as bad as committing the crime itself. It really behooves one to study the Scriptures for themselves and learn of the Lord's will so as to not be led into error by Satan's snares who is come to kill, steal, and destroy. As an example of what is meant by Satan who is come to kill, steal, and destroy look at the end results of those who followed Jim Jones, David Koresh and his Davidians, and Heaven's Gate. This is but a few tragic examples in our time resulting in the loss of many lives due to the acts of these so-called prophets and this is why Jesus warns us to beware of those claiming to be Christ and the rise of many false prophets for not only do they mislead with false promises and hopes which leads to a false sense of security but they can cause you to lose your life without any hope of eternal salvation and deliverance through Christ and this is Satan's ultimate plan.
