~Wait on the Rain~


When darkness has come
Here at my cabin home
it’s after midnight
Playing on the radio a song’s sad refrain
My faithful kitty’s lying here at my side
I cannot count the tears I have cried,
since you’ve gone away

Within the passing of time… each arrival…. a new day has begun….
Like a soldier in the jungle it’s a matter of simply survival sometimes
…I wait expectantly for the rain
Billowing clouds hide the sun

Out of nowhere its glorious tap tap at my window…until its almost the sound of a beating drum
The wild wind sweeps high across the ridges of the mountaintops
In the shadows above the clouds hiding an iridescent moon
Suddenly dancing across the trees far below
Whispering its solemn tune

Surrounding me like a specter in the night
Comfort from the Warmth of a blanket
Embers from the firelight
There’s small consolation in the rhythmic ticking of a clock in the room
Skies turning deep red with a fiery glow

The familiar sound of Kaden & Egan’s bark
When sleep finally comes
Here in the darkness…..
restless…… I hold your pillow

You’ll go walking once again
in my dreams
living color…. pictures of memories
You & me here
These mysteries in my sleep…..
Sweetest love from the past
Have I left behind
Though it holds not a future---
yet still they remain mine

Forever keeping
I can see your face so clearly
The sound of your sweet laughter I hear
You come closer….near me….
I have nothing to fear

Now & always a part of me, I cannot let you go…
reaching out your arms…… around me I feel….Your embrace
Though words are unspoken
This love you’ve given to me
Will last a lifetime

I don’t expect love to come again……
Too much to lose
Little to gain, perhaps…a price far too high for so much pain
Loving so completely….this heart understands too well
Loss.……..
As the memory of your face, your smile go through my mind
reminders of the past
Love lost………How fragile life truly is…….

New wounds from a broken heart that had barely begun to heal

….….. shattered like glass----the familiar sound of a heart breaking
Surrounding, encompassing….. cutting deeply…… this pain…
The words you had spoken….I’ll be back
Linger still

I have discovered while on the journey recovering
Like a gray mist...a fog you cannot see
Within the deluge of greatest loss, this tragedy…...life has a way of passing by
And like a soldier down…..In the darkest night…comes the deepest sorrow
It’s never easy to say goodbye

Emerging
Through the smoky haze…
Soldier on a battlefield
Another place and time
… the storm has passed
Shall we choose to appreciate the beauty of the night
Sun comes up on the horizon at dawn
While little birds singing their sweet lullaby


And I’ll dance in celebration…enjoying God’s sweetest creation
laugh a while…really laugh……..life….is it possible.. of love when there is much to give…without it….can we truly fully live


Many questions to wonder….yet I give them to tomorrow
Turn my face to the wind…….
Welcoming the rain its droplets of silver
Perfection………….. again

I’m not young, but neither am I old……….
There are still dreams to dream
Stories to be told
……friends to meet….places to go

I have felt the pain
Well acquainted with sorrow
Yet there is Hope for tomorrow
With faith…. Comes strength & resolve
From God in His Heaven above
I will dance once again….
And with a smile….
While
I’ll wait on the rain
Filling my life with love……..
