Greetings my friends. We are living in interesting times, aren't we?
Like so many of you, I've been self-quarantining as we attempt to ride out the Coronavirus which is sweeping the world. So far, I don't know anyone who has contracted it. I hope it stays that way.
Nevertheless, in addition to all the helpful information we've been getting from our leaders, I wanted to offer a few tips which I've learned which can help you get through these hard times.
First of all, set yourself up with a routine. Getting out of bed at the same time every morning is the first step. My alarm goes off at 0730, which is a nice change because when I'm working, I usually have to get up at 5:00 AM.
Make sure you're eating healthy. I've discovered a brand of spinach noodles, which, when mixed with hot water and miso makes a great noodle soup. It's also low in fat, but has all the nutrition necessary, and it's easy to make. When eaten with a piece of fruit, it's healthy and you can vary that with other things. Also, while other people are panic-buying pasta and canned goods, make sure you get all the fresh fruits and vegetables you can. It'll keep for longer than you might htink, and you're not going to get tired of eating out of a can every night--which gets old very fast.
Avoid drinking a lot of soda. It's packed with chemicals and sugar, which will lower your morale very quickly. I'm drinking a lot of green tea, which strengthens your teeth and is packed with antioxidants. Helps lift your spirits, too.
Get out for a walk at least three times a day. As long as you stay six feet away from people, you'll be fine. I'm going to fly a kite tomorrow, because I've heard the winds are going to be perfect for that.
Stay informed, but don't binge-watch on the news. It's depressing. Pick up that old book you've been meaning to read, and do it. I've finished off six books since this whole mess started, and I feel great.
Hang in there! We're all together, and together we're going to survive it! How it changed my life:Life-changing tips always help.
