Yes I agree DL the maiming and killing of animals seem to just a virtual slap on the hand what is a fine to some people? especially if they are wealthy..no they should do some time in jail and I mean hard labour for a couple of years..I know what I'd like to do with them!!!!  |

I do think jail time or mandatory psychiatric treatment should be in store for someone who abuses animals. You are right in that a lot of future murderers begin with animals. Making psychiatric treatment and counseling mandatory would help deal with some of the issues the individual may have while jail time, a fine, and perhaps forcing them to do community service at an animal shelter (under supervision) would serve as punishment.  |

I do think that the punishments for hurting animals are way too light for the seriousness of the crime. It has been proven that animal killers eventually lead to possibly killing others as well. I like the idea of having "Set Punishments" where they are known in the state of what will happen to someone who is caught hurting animals. The problem is, some of these policies are set in place already but lawyers get many of the guilty out of the consequences. That is where the problem lies. No accountability.  |

Yeah Hangman. For certain crimes, the accused dosent deserve a lawyer. Child molesters and animal killers dosnt deserve lawyers. |

they should be locked up. then they should be forced to spend 16 hours a day working at an animal shelter. cameras should be everywhere. first time they abuse a critter they should just be shot. if they can't be kind to a puppy they probably can't be kind to kids. why have that kind of trash breathing the air as decent people?  |

I hit a raccoon a few weeks ago that messed my car up to the point that I had to get a new one. I felt SO horrible even though I swerved to try and avoid it. I can't imagine hurting an animal on purpose. The laws need to be more severe. There are some cruel people in this world.  |
