Date: 8/12/2012 6:23:00 PM From Authorid: 21435 Hey there, Smokin Joe. Man, I have so noticed what you are saying about the shrinking portions. We went to one of the well known "fried chicken joints" (sorry, Adora) and the legs were so tiny, they must've come off one of those little banny chickens. Like you mentioned, the price remains the same, or goes up. We're in for it when interest rates rise and inflation hits. Heck! We're already being snockered. Write about it..... |
Date: 8/12/2012 6:39:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 54570 I know what ya mean Kronk. A Chinese resturant nearby had crablegs on the buffet. Buffet was $17. they went from large legs to these tiny ones and then they stopped serving them altogether. Price for buffet is still the same. |

I loved this post Joe, it made me laugh on a topic that is really no laughing matter. OMGoodness, everything is shrinking and the prices do not even stay the same .. the escalate . Pick up a pound package, only to feel it somehow a bit lighter than it is suppose to be in the grocery store .. and viola, it is only 12 ounces (if your lucky). However, they are so kind as to only raise the price by an additional 18 cents for 'your' convenience. I have stopped buying the rotisserie chickens from the other grocery stores, because they are sometimes seeming like they are a Chicken/Cornish game hen cross. The only place that seems to give a good bird size for the money is Costco, so they get my business now. (Sorry for the chicken reference Adora) |
Date: 8/13/2012 1:52:00 AM From Authorid: 37843 I've not taken my tape measure to Subway lately, but I'll take it next time I go and report back about the turkey. I've noticed that a certain Mcrestraunt here has increased the price on a double cheeseburger but replaced it on the $1 menu with a Mcdouble... And it seems that the roast beef sandwiches at Arbys have less beef and more bun. I hadn't really thought about it because I don't really do fast food that often so just thought I'd gone on a day they were being stingy with the beef. |
Date: 8/13/2012 1:59:00 AM From Authorid: 64365 I don't McIndulge in the McD's McFood. I prefer to go where the real beef is and that's over to Whataburger...the size of those cow patties haven't changed in years...and neither has the McTaste. Anywhere else the burgers have been down sized, and the prices have been super sized. Now, Jack in the Box use to make a whale of a good fish sandwich, but the last time I ate there, which was just last year BLEEEEEEEEEECHT...tasted like their fish came from the crab trap bait well, and it was a little bigger than the size of a minnow. |
Date: 8/13/2012 3:13:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 54570 Jack In The Box....mmmmmmm I would definateley be overwieght if there were one of those close by. Closest one is three hour drive away. But when we do go by it we spend about 80 to 120 and feast for days!!!! |
Date: 8/13/2012 4:23:00 AM From Authorid: 26303 Mmmm...funny you should post this...I noticed that my Weight Watcher bars have got smaller, the price has gone up...Oddly, the point value of the bar has stayed the same...huh? Don't know how that can be...ripped off! |
Date: 8/13/2012 7:31:00 AM From Authorid: 64365 Hey there, Kronk. Your response reminded me of something. When I was in Canada, we went to this mall, and in the Food Court there was this KFC. Ah...KFC. Can't go wrong with that, right? I ordered a 2 peice chicken meal, and took it back to the table, and just looked at it. I told Hekler it was more like KFP. Kentucky Fried Pidgeon. |
Date: 8/13/2012 7:34:00 AM From Authorid: 64365 I would imagine the smaller chicken pieces came from a chicken that wasn't fed GMO grains. Those hormones make the chicken really big by the time they are 3 weeks old, and they are slaughtered at that time....It takes less than half the time to get them to butchering size with those hormones. When I see a small piece of chicken that's a good indicator no hormones were involved in its diet. |

Date: 8/13/2012 11:06:00 AM From Authorid: 7341 It's not fast food... but Gatorade has gone from being 32 oz. to 28 oz.... and the price is still the same. Dang... on a hot day after a good run, 4 oz. makes a difference! |
Date: 8/13/2012 7:55:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 54570 Corky have you noticed that also when they are hot they are just plain salty. No flavor at all when they are cold either. I remember the "Citrus" gatorades. Man I loved those things. Would buy a case of them twice a week. Sadley they took it and lemon-lime, fruit punch, as well as grape gatorade off the market. Those were the good ones. Now they have G-2 or G-3. Dont know what they mean cause the few I have tried just didnt satisfy me or even slow my thirst for the price. And they have gotten smaller. |
Date: 8/13/2012 8:33:00 PM From Authorid: 64819 I used to like the Blue Mountain Blast and the Purple Mountain Berry, but they changed the recipe on them, and they don't taste worth it now. |
Date: 8/14/2012 11:01:00 PM From Authorid: 40979 Makes me think of the tiny chicken legs and wings we sell at work...1.39 for a tiny leg and .89 cents for a wing 0_o I wish I never got hungry. I would save so much money! LOL. |

Smokin Joe It's twelve years later and I can't see a positive change in prices. I do like those fish sandwiches, but I have to buy three of `em to get any satisfaction, at all. These days, I demand full disclosure before buying "bargain fast food." I once bought a "three for two dollars" burger special and found out, later, that what I assumed was beef, was actually "mixed animal parts," from India! |
