That's truly macabre. The new devolper has no plans to excavate the bodies and relocate them? Is that the case? It's very creepy! And if they did build on it, they deserve to be haunted. I haven't read the article yet, just sort of running through posts real quick. |

The same goes on here too. I know where there are small graveyards that have been bought with property and then the whole property fenced in and cattle turned loose. If the headstones were metal they would be sold for scrap or if they were wooden like the ones that I know the cows have kicked them down and trompled them. If the residents of the graves were lucky there would be a notation on the deed of the graveyard so it wouldnt dissapear. Sadley these arent that lucky. There is one place that the stones were taken up and disposed of and a paved parking lot for a used car sales was made. They found the stones behind the lot in the woods stacked up. The only way this was brought to light was that someone wanted to be buried next to thier mama and when they passed the body was shipped here. The family Bible had the map and even where the people was laid out. No-one has been buried yet in the parking lot as the whole thing is still tied up in court ten years after the fact. And even sneakier yet a farmhouse out in the sticks had been bought and the previous tenant had laid the stones flat and covered them over with dirt and grass. Planted apple and pear trees. The new owner took out the trees and was going to put a building up. When they dug out the root balls and started the foundation work thats when they found the stones. The new owner got some kind of fine for desecration and is fighting that in court. The work there has stopped and only a few stones are up. They cant get up with the previous owners as they had up and died shortley after leaving the house. An infant graveyard. Thats a new one on me. But it would tick me off to know thats what being done to these tykes that had no chance at life. And now in death still no chance for anything at all. Not even a memory or a proper resting place. |
