I appreciate you both asking as it actually feels better to talk about it with others even though its been years. She was a high school crush (and a major one at that) from what seems to be a lifetime ago. She was a senior and I was a junior in high school, which didn't matter much to her from what she had said. I fell in love with her the first time I saw her but unfortunately she was with someone else at the time. I had a friend that was a friend of hers and we started passing notes to each other until we finally made a few "dates". She agreed to meet me sometimes and we talked over lunch or just in our cars and I felt sure that she was starting to like me more and more. Even being only 16 at the time, I poured my heart out to her in hopes that she would go with me but it didn't happen. I had lost contact with her during the summer of '89 as she was going off to college. Then one day, I hear of a tragic shooting that happened where a mother and father and daughter were killed and the shooter was dead also. The shooter was the person that she had been dating when I met her. There were so many versions of the story, I don't think anyone knows what happened. All I know is that she had a 4.0 GPA, fully paid scholarship at great university, very intelligent and lovely young woman and had everything going for her. If I had known that person was going to kill her and her family, I would've done everything in my power to stop him. The guy, I learned later was a bad apple, kicked out of several schools and into occult stuff. I personally think he bewitched her somehow because he was not attractive and was 15 (even younger than me at the time) and she was 17. The strange thing about this occurance was that 2 years prior to this tragedy, I had a crush on another girl during a school year and was making progress also with her but then lost touch with her during the summer of '87. Then as the school year started, I saw several people crying one day and then I found out that girl had killed herself. No one ever really knew the reason either which again was painful... Needless to say, during my senior year in high school, I didn't date anyone or even allow myself to have a crush on anyone. I didn't even go to the prom even though I had girls asking me to go. Going through this kind of thing once is bad enough but twice really messed up what was supposed to be the best years of my life. |
