I checked my USM profile today. I happened to see that my fivebie award went up a digit. Let me tell you what that digit means.

This past year has been one of the most full of change years of my entire life. I have moved twice. I have travelled abroad. I have gotten two new furry addition to my family (Asia, my cat and Lily my hamster), a new nehpew, a great-nephew on the way later this year, twin cousins were born a couple days ago. I have been to concerts, I have at least one more planned.

I have also undergone tremendous loss. My second father died, my uncle died and my aunt died. My uncle died about two weeks or less after we visited. i have another uncle who is very, very sick. I have had my health trials as well in the past year. Stress,depression et. al. I am holding on and waiting to see what happens next. Things can and do change suddenly.

The thing I try to do is take a lesson from things. When you are in the midst of the pain or trauma, you don't really feel like it, but it's necessary. in some cases looking for the lesson and trying to find at least something positiive are the only things that got me through. Maybe that's what this year has taught me most. To hang on. I have gotten through things I wouldn't wish upon anyone this year. The upside is I made it through. When I thought I was done, I finally saw the light and came through. I am at a pretty stable point for now. I'm recouping and looking forward to what else life is going to bring. I just hope it's a bit less..."eventful" for a while.

I just can't believe 6 years have gone by already. I am awestruck by the direction life has taken in that time. The one thing that seems stable is my little haven here at USM. I'm so glad to be here. It's such a cache of amazing people. There is always support, caring, kindness and laughter here. Just like any family, the USM family has its ups and downs and squabbles, but at the end of the day,we're here for each other and that is what matters most. Thank you for that.
