What is your local Urban Legend? *sunshine*

So every town has a local Urban Legend. Here is Amarillo Tx, a local Urban Legend that keeps getting people into trouble. Here is what our local news paper said.

People show up looking for ghosts and wind up finding a ride in the back of a squad car. Photos Rumors have long stood that the old Summit Elementary School in Amarillo is haunted and home to ghosts of long-ago murders. While break-ins at the school are not uncommon by thrill-seekers looking to catch paranormal activity, Amarillo police say the problem has increased in recent weeks. They arrested or detained 14 people for trespassing or burglary in the former school in July alone. "People think they are doing some fun and looking for a ghost," police Sgt. Brent Barbee said. "They're actually breaking the law." The school at 2800 N.W. Ninth Ave. is owned by San Jacinto Christian Academy. Windows are secured, doors are locked sometimes with chains, and many "No trespassing" signs are posted around the building. Police warn people they'll be arrested if they enter the property and could face charges ranging from misdemeanor trespassing to felony burglary. "APD officers have ... walked through the building many times during the night and have never seen evidence of supernatural activity," an Amarillo police statement said Friday. Bloggers and other Internet chatter have spread tall tales of harrowing, haunted activity in the building. One tale claims four boys attending Summit fell victim to the murderous ways of a janitor who cornered them in the boiler room. Creative imaginations say voices can be heard in the darkened hallways of the building. "I've never seen anyone produce any kind of information about any type of murder that ever occurred there," Barbee said. "I call it local, urban legend."

SO i ask you...what is your home towns Urban Legend?

Date: 5/13/2011 6:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 63026    dead man curve`Said by some to be the most haunted place in Ohio, Dead Mans curve is a stretch of road between Amelia and Bethel in the village of Bantam in Clermont
County, where Route 222 meets route 125. This is said to be an area haunted by the so called "Faceless Hitchhiker". He is said to roam this area late at
night, usually between 10 a.m. and 1:40 a.m. People report seeing this strange man on the side of the road, others tell of their car being pelted with rocks
from someone unseen. There is also said to have been many accidents and deaths along this stretch of road...perhaps the hitch hiker is one of these lost
souls. Those who have gotten close enough to him to get a good look all report the same thing...theres no sign of a face at all, just blackness!

Date: 5/13/2011 10:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 7849    White Lady Bridge-- It is said long ago that a couple driving back from their prom, honeymoon, wedding, a party.. the story always changes.. anyway they were driving back home, and they were going too fast and drove off the road.. the woman was hurt, the man decided he would have to walk back and try to get help, the lady died before he could return. Supposedly her spirit still walks up and down that road at night in search of him, and especially along the bridge.. Supposedly if you see her, that means you will also get into an accident before you make it to where you are suppose to go.

I've heard stories of people going up there in white prom dresses, and start running across the road as cars drive by. haha. But I've been up there along that river, fishing, and Ive heard rocks banging together in the woods, and mysterious noises and the feeling that someone is watching me. It gets kinda spooky. I've also been up there at night, but have never witnessed anything.

Date: 5/13/2011 7:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 14314    I made a post about it a while ago http://www.myusm.com/usm476334.html?t=Ghosts
Date: 5/13/2011 9:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    We have a Deadman's Curve too. Ours is supposed to be where a policeman that was directing traffic was hit by a car and killed. We also have a place called Hannah Ward Bridge. Story goes the woman back in pioneer days was being chased by Indians. She found herself on the edge of a bluff, and decided she preferred jumping off to being scalped. She was holding her baby in her arms when she jumped. Supposedly you can hear the baby's cries sometimes in the night.
Date: 5/13/2011 9:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    We actually found some arrowheads in a field, just beyond Hannah Ward bridge, when I was a kid.
Date: 5/14/2011 3:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 5940    Pea Ridge, Arkansas...... it's said that once a year, on a midnite clear, the redneck residents put down thier beer. Then unbenownst, an unknown host leads them into a cheer. "GREEN ACRES IS THE PLACE TO BE< FARM LIVING IS THE LIFE FOR ME........"
Date: 5/15/2011 7:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 62146    In my Area there is rummor to a panther (or a really over sized cat) Running around. There are however no big cats like a Panther in Australia, So the Locals are at a loss to explain this thing (if it exists) running around. Our property being in the rural country area, is acctually 7 acers 5 off which are bush land (Or forest land as you americans call it) My mum claimed that one day after our dog Cody, came back from the Bush land on our property (which goes down hill till it hits the creek) Our dog Cody came back with massive Scatch marks (or claw marks) on his back, it was so bad we took him to the vet!! Latter that week, a Girlfreind off mine who lives down the road from us. Came over to my house to say hello, and my mum and her were sitting down in the kitchen ddrinking tea and talking about this panther... My Friend argueed that this is all nothing more than an Urban ledgand and my mum had a different idea... To this day... NO ONE REALLY KNOWS!!!
Date: 7/24/2011 10:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 64883    The local Urban Legend here in Gaston County, NC is that Lincoln Academy is haunted. It was an old school I think in the 40s or 50s and a girl was killed there, bound to a tree with barbed wire and molested then had her throat cut. This really did happen and to this day the claim is that the area is haunted. Back in the 80s I was in high school and a bunch of us drove up there to see what we could see. The only thing we saw were some black robed figures off in the distance doing some type of satanic ritual. We got the heck outta there.
Date: 7/24/2011 11:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 64819    Where I am in NC we have "The Beast of Bladenboro".
In 1954, Bladenboro received national attention for several mysterious animal killings, mostly of dogs and livestock, in the area. The animals had broken jaws and had been drained of blood in a fashion not unlike the supposed attacks of Chupacabra. However, sightings describe the attacker as favoring a cat or wolf which led to the local legend known as the "Beast of Bladenboro."[3] In 2008, the History Channel television series Monster Quest performed an analysis concerning these attacks, which were beginning to happen again, and concluded that the attacker might have been a cougar.
You can google it to get more info. But this is the bare bones of it.
