There's something in your eyes that's haunting
It leaves me aching, wanting
My feelings have grown exponentially
I used to think we connected mentally
We're opposite yet so the same
Sometimes I feel you've forgotten my name
I'm oblivious to reality, my version is better
I wish you didn't see me as a fetter
I used to think we had such a great connection
Clearly, you've upped your selection
A wise woman said it best
Take what you want and leave the rest
When you pick and choose, there is nothing left
I end up empty and bereft
Love is a give and take, should be equal
Our film went bankrupt, there is no sequel
Maya once said " I know why the caged bird sings"
Yet I cannot soar with clipped wings
My growth is stunted because of what I lack
Perhaps someday I shall get it back
I hold out hope when I've nothing more within
Could it be that love isn't salvation but a sin?
My transgressions have sent me to purgatory
I don't hold out hope you'll mourn for me

That is part of the wonderful part of sharing things here on USM ... like not complaining that the rose has thorns, it is just part of the wonder of the rose.
