Wow it's been so long! I've had so much going on here, haven't had time to drop in and say hello and I even missed my 5 year usm-versary back in August! I still work from home, play World of Warcraft and Everquest, it's just that with my work schedule, I don't get much time to do anything else on the computer.
So what's life like here now? Well we got moved into our house back in March, and it's a slow process of getting everything together, but we're making it. If I can remember how, I'll post the Youtube link to the walkthrough of our house before all the furniture was put in, and maybe do an update of after everything was moved in. It's so much better than where we lived before, everyone has their own space and privacy and I'm just so in love with it!
Things are changing at my job. They took away a lot of agents from the market that I work in, and are going to be bringing new agents in, and it looks like we may be all consolidating in to one market instead of having three. For those that don't know, I do video troubleshooting and billing for Comcast customers in the MD, VA, DE and DC areas. Rudest bunch of yahoo's in the Baltimore area I've ever spoken to. So it looks like we're getting moved to the Michigan/Indiana (affectionately referred to as "Mindy") market at some point in the future, we just don't know when. I've applied for several promotions and came within a hair of getting one but just didn't have the years of experience they were looking for. I was pretty devastated to get that far and then be turned down.
The boys are doing good. Ryan is 13, and Jacob just turned 11 at the beginning of this month. Ryan is now fully mainstreamed (he's autistic, if you forgot) into regular ed school, riding the regular bus which he hates, but he loves that he's back in "normal" school and out of the Day Treatment program he was in for 3 years where they treated him just a hair above a prisoner.
Can you believe its so close to Christmas? I've only gotten 2 things each for the boys this year, and that may be all they get. I lost my disability due to my income, so I'm working on getting them to reduce my hours to get my disability back, so things are tight around here. I've already warned the boys that it's going to be a lean Christmas, and not to expect much. So far they've accepted it and really haven't said much about Christmas. I finally caved in and let Jacob buy with his gift card the one game he's wanted for years, and Ryan doesn't really play a lot of PS3 games, he's more of a computer guy. I wish I had the money to buy them some winter clothes, but they need them well before Christmas.
They're both still in Scouting, Ryan is a 1st Class Scout, working on Star, and Jacob will cross over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts in February. Lucky for me, Ryan sold a lot of popcorn last year so he's pretty much paid for his winter camp this year where he'll earn 5 merit badges if he does it right. Winter camp is $200 per kid AND even per adult even if you staff it. So I'm hoping he can sell enough popcorn this year to make up the difference and pay his way fully to winter camp this year. Winter camp starts the day after Christmas and goes for a week. It will be the longest he's ever been away from home by himself. Next year I'll be begging everyone to buy popcorn because I will have TWO boys to send to camp at $200 each.
If you love boy scout popcorn, or just want to help send him to winter camp, private message me and I'll give you details. The popcorn this year is really good. They're not doing it in tins like they used to, it's all in resealable bags plus you get more popcorn than in previous years since they did away with the tins and saved some money. I'm so addicted to the cheese popcorn!!
So overall, we're doing good, just a little worried about Christmas but I think that's every parent's concern every year with the economy the way it is.
I've missed you all so much and I SWEAR I won't pull another vanishing act again! I may be here just in comments, but I WILL be here!
Love and hugs
