I had been introduced to the Mormon faith by a friend. I was genuinely interested in learning more. So she set me up with local missionaries who gave me the teachings. After a certain time, they asked if I was going to be getting baptized. I agreed to do so, I felt it was right for me. I do investigate many religions, but I do not convert to all of them. I took this pretty seriously. So, my baptism was scheduled on the 8th of November, and on the 6th, I had my experience. I was sleeping, but having a very vivid dream. I was in my white dress, at the meetinghouse. I was getting ready to be baptized. I walked down into the pool. The Elder was waiting there for me. He took my hand and we got into position. He dunked me. In this dream, I did not have to hold my breath, breathe , or close my eyes. The pool had glass sides, so I could see everyone outside watching me. I even saw Jesus Himself in the crowd. After what seemed to be about 5 minutes, I got up again and walked out of the pool. The Sisters who had been my teachers were there. They congratulated me, and the three of us hugged tightly and I could feel their love and happiness. Then, I awoke.
The next thing is a continuation of this. My confirmation was a few days after the baptism. So one of the Sisters kept telling me she wanted to share something with me. She never seemed to get to say what she wanted. The day of the confirmation comes. The Priesthood members and member of the Bishopric do a laying on of hands and pray over me, among other things. While this happens, I feel energy coursing through me. It felt like electricity. It was almost like those lights you touch and the arcs follow your fingers, but even more intense. I believe now this was the Holy Spirit. Later on, the Sisters asked me how the confirmation was. I told them how I felt and what had happened to me during it. The Sister who had been trying to tell me something for days, told me she was going to tell me I might not feel any different after confirmation. She then said :"I know why I was not supposed to tell you that now." We both had a laugh.
I believe these two events were some of the most transcendent things I have ever experienced in my life. I am no loner an active member of any church at the present time for various reasons, but I definitely love and respect the LDS church and would not mind going back. They have some beautiful teachings and clearly my soul resonated with it. I have not really shared these stories with many people...but I did feel compelled to share the beautiful experiences I have had. Even if they do not lead you to the LDS church or any church, at least they give you something to think about. I think they show there is more out there than just the physical world. There is a "higher power", which I experienced during my time in the LDS church. So, anyone want to tell us any stories they have had? Whatever else you'd like to talk about is fine. How it changed my life:IT reinforced that there really is something more...
