It's time to talk high school! - - KRISTA - -

So, it's been awhile since I made a post that wasn't about my mental health, so let's talk about another recent development in my life: high school.

Alas, it's true. USM's kid sister Krista has finally entered into the dark abyss that is high school, taking all honors classes (and one tenth grade honors class), as well as Band and French. The school I'm going to recently made a new building for the high school, so we have all the "latest in technology" (gosh, I feel like a nutcase saying that). I hate to brag (who am I kidding, I love to brag), but I am proud to say that I left fifth grade last year as the number one student (surprise) with a 4.0 GPA.

Let's talk about your high school experiences (provided you can remember them, you old people, you). What was entering high school like for you?

You can thank Paula for imploring me to post.

Also, if it's of any interest to you all, CrimsonRegret is doing fine. She's a big bad senior now.

Regards and love for USM, Krista~

Date: 9/17/2010 7:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 63026    I went to a highschool with 3,000 students, and I didn't know anyone. My first homecoming dance was with a senior girl and we danced to Journey's "faithfully"her date was in the bathroom). As a freshmen I was friends with most of the seniors and homecoming queen(got pics to prove that).
I entered into a Male Beauty Contest called Mr.Highlander, my friend Ashley told me to do it, so I did.
I learned teen girls like guys who carries a camera so they can get their pictures taken.

I loved highschool and the people and the teachers. I wouldn't change a thing.

The main thing is the 4 years go fast, and do everything you can and go to the dances, and football games.

i'm too old to remember much! i went to a redneck highschool! prob about 1500-2000. it was the early 80s and it was still pretty innocent. when we carried guns to school they were kept in a rack in the truck. when we carried knoves to school they were not switch blades. they were useful pocket knives. and when we felt the need to fight we took it off school grounds.
wow that was a long time ago!!
oh and my freshman year was the last year there was a smoking area for students.

Date: 9/17/2010 8:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 63026    oh i went to school from 1999-2003. I also remember thats when Yahoo started, AOL was internet of choice and dial-up was high tech, and Aol's chatroom, ASK JEEVES was the biggest search engine. Who Wants To Be A Millionare was hosted by Regis Philbin and was on night and was crazy popular, and Survivor was somewhat enjoyable.
Date: 9/17/2010 9:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 62993    I'm only two years out of high school, so I remember a lot of it. I only had 200-something students at my Catholic high school. My class started out with almost 100 and we finished with around 85. I mostly kept to myself in high school, but I did a few activities like soccer and forensics (different kinds of speech/drama competition). High school for me was just, well, another four years of school that helped prepare me for college. I prefer college a lot more.
Date: 9/17/2010 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 15394    Well congrats on high school! I hope it is a great experience for you!! WAAAAY back when I was in high school... hmmm I remember that as of 7th grade we combined two elementary schools to make the one high school and we had about 700 students in 7-12th grade... I was in band.. enjoyed drama... did some sports and cheerleading... all in all it wasn't the best experience, but hey, who wants to peak in high school!! Life begins after high school Good Luck!!
Date: 9/18/2010 6:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 13546    Ah yes, High School! I went from 1999 - 2002. (our high school went from grade 10 to grade 12). I went to school with 2000+ people, can`t quite remember at the moment. It was quite a change going into High School, but I met so many new people and many new experiences. I am not sure if I would describe it as the `best` time of my life, it was just another learning curve along lives highway!
Date: 9/18/2010 1:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 5061    Lets see if this crochety old lady here in carolina can remember my high school days.
I remember sitting in front of a boy,who diped my long pong tail into the ink,and passing notes back and forth, and my first prom, who i attended with lee,who later became my hubby.
I hated it when we had to diasect the frog.
lol,my memory is slowly fading,"giggles"
take care

Date: 9/18/2010 3:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 43807    I went to high school with fifty kids in the high school hall, and one hundred in the elemantry wing. ;0 I had 7 in my graduating class. BEAT THAT!
Date: 9/18/2010 3:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 43807    1993-2001 with the same kids. Some years it was h e double hockey sticks L, sometimes it was good. But I can honestly say I never felt that I belonged.
Date: 9/20/2010 5:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 64514    You left the 5th grade last year and now your in high school? Wow, you must be one mega smart kid. I don't remember high school that much, just skipping school and going places all over the state and to Chicago and St. Louis a lot (my sis had a car and we always drove all over the state with friends). Besides, I only went to high school for a few months before I thought I was to good for what I thought was such a waste of time. If I could go back and do it over again, I would stay in school and not be the horror child I was. I'm sure I gave my parents a few grey hairs I did finish school years later after I grew up some and got out of that wild stage in life.
Date: 9/20/2010 5:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 64514    High School here are or were grades 9 - 12, maybe its different else where.
