Date: 12/7/2009 7:34:00 AM From Authorid: 15228 Oh please, like it's anything new to criticise the president. People ought to get off their high horse, I know he is the ONE, but even he can be criticized. And yes, we know it was bad before he came into office. With all the whining the man does I don't know why he ran in the first place. All presidents face challenges left from the previous administration, the only difference is they aren't still crying about it a year into office. |
Date: 12/7/2009 7:36:00 AM From Authorid: 15228 Maybe you'll let us know when it becomes his problem, We were promised with this almost trillion dollar stimulus the unemployment rate wouldn't go much over 8 percent, it's now 10 percent. Give me a date when it's Obama responsibility. |

The one? Kelly, you say that like he's your soulmate! And I'm not saying that it isn't his responsibility because it is. But people criticizing and not providing solutions. |
Date: 12/7/2009 7:44:00 AM From Authorid: 15228 naww, he's the democrats soul mate, or he was until he kept the one campaign promise they were against, and that's actually finishing Afghanistan. So sad for them. As for not providing a solution, what difference does it make what solution I or any other republican might come up with?? Republicans aren't in power if you hadn't noticed, republicans aren't allowed any input in any of the bills and are kept out of key policy meetings, so that's just a straw-man argument at this point. |
Date: 12/7/2009 7:50:00 AM From Authorid: 15228 However, it is a nice way to knock down anyone who would dare criticize Obama. |
Date: 12/7/2009 8:01:00 AM From Authorid: 64365 Well, this is history repeating itself over and over again...I don't know of any president that hasn't come under mass scrutiny for policy...I can't provide a solution. No one is ever going to agree what's best for this country. The rich are going to complain if the poor get a break, and the poor are going to complain if the rich get a braak, and the middle of the fence guy is going to complain because he can't get enough of a break. 'Fair' is not equal in the eyes of everyone, and until the people can come to an agreement about what would work for everyone, no one is going to be 100 percent happy. That's just my opinion. |

I myself do neither but I do RESPECT him as our leader. He was voted in by the people and he will not be able to fix everything during his term but I think he is trying. |

I don't understand why it is that if we are Obama supporters we are "blind devotee's". Obama is not my soul mate, he is not "The One", he is not our "Saviour". He is the guy I voted for because I believe in his message and what I believe is a sincere desire to help America rebuild and recoup. Just because I proudly support our president doesn't mean I am blind to the truth behind politics. He's a politician like all of them are. But he's one of the better ones IMO. Further, I can recall criticizing Bush and being called Anti-American. Does this mean those who criticize Obama are the same? I don't believe so, but I'm just curious is supporting the president is still Anti-American and not supporting him is nw the American Way? |

SOLUTION: Quit assuming that government can fix these problems. Allow the free market to work without all the government interference. Stick to the governing basics enumerated by our Constitution. Quit lying. Practice what you preach. God Bless. |

The solution..... although they would never do it because the rich would not be favored..... There are approximately 40 million people in the workforce in the US who are age 50 or older. Take $400 billion dollars and give each of them 1 million dollars (tax free). There are 3 stipulations to receiving the money.... 1. They must retire from their job. (40 million job openings) employment crisis solved!!! 2. They must either pay off their mortgage or buy a new home...... Housing crisis solved!!! 3. They must buy a new automobile (40 million automobiles ordered). Automobile industry crisis solved!!! |

i'm not an obama fan but i don't see that he is any more special than any other president. they have all been critcized for one thing or another. no matter who won that election the problems couldn't have been fixed right away. as far as coming up with a solution that wouldn't matter either. you, me or joe below can come up with a solution but who would listen? |

I for one, have seen plenty of solutions provided by the opposition that sound to me much better than the policy he's following (but as Kelly pointed out, the Democrats in Congress keep shooting it all down and then deny those solutions ever existed at all). On Afghanistan: Either give the General you appointed the number of troops he actually requested in order to get the job done, or just withdraw completely already. On the Economy: Get out of the way and let what is left of the free market to heal itself; Roosevelt made the Depression last 16 years with his Government spending and market-distorting programs, Obama's following the same path so it's silly to somehow expect a different result. And frankly, some of the advisers he has "helping" him with the economy scare me, considering none of them saw the crisis coming (and some actively denied it was happening when it arrived like Ben Bernanke), are now being trusted with coming up with solutions for it, while those that correctly predicted the crisis in its scope and precise areas that would collapse would manifest (like Peter Schiff and Ron Paul) are being ignored and actively opposed. It seems to me that those that can predict the problems would be best equipped to produce the solutions, as their ability to predict things are a strong sign that they understand something about economics that the guys Obama is listening to don't understand (and none of the advisers secret information helped them any either). Just trying something, anything, tossing trillions of dollars at a problem without knowing the mechanics of why the problem exists at the first place, is kind of like responding to the oil light indicator of a car by dumping a few quarts of oil all over the outside of the engine, and putting some into the oil tank, plus the radiator fluid and wiper fluid tanks for good measure, just to see if that helps. That's an easy way to discover "trying something" isn't always better than even doing nothing. |

People will always criticise whoever the President is and whatever the President does. Obama is not perfect by any means, but he’s by far and away the best of a bad lot. Most of the criticisms of his Presidency are of little real merit when examined closely, but reason will never reach the partisans and pseudo-Randian acolytes who will continue to bleat until their voices are hoarse. |

Yes- Oh Please indeed. Stimulus: Stimulate the economy instead of the government. Give taxpayers a 90 moratorium on payroll taxes, direct money on a weekly basis, straight to the economy, with little or no government intervention. Stimulus II: American businesses overseas get a 30 window of opportunity to bring money back into the US at half the current 30% tax rate. brings money into the economy that normally would not be transfered due to high corporate tax rates. Also generates additional tax revenue. Economic, Job "Summit": Consider inviting members of the U.S. Chamber of Comerce and the National Independant Business Association, They represent over 3 Million Businesses and 20 Million jobs. Yet they were excluded from this weeks meeting. So there are 3 items, right off the top of my head, and I didn't say one poor word about BHO in the process. |
Date: 12/7/2009 12:23:00 PM From Authorid: 2030 As for anti American, it's not anti American to be critical of the president. The fact that at some point in the past someone somewhere called someone anti-American for being critical of Bush is a whine long past it's prime. |
Date: 12/7/2009 12:35:00 PM From Authorid: 54444 a great post and some great replys, unfortunately none of our voices will be heard or heeded. Many of us believed in Obama's message. However once in the office he has in every instance went in the opposite direction than he s message said he would go. Does that make him a liar? Yes. Do I hold him accountable for it. No. He had absolutely no experience except how to win a debate. He has never led anything but we trusted him to lead America, because of the MESSAGE. You cannot have change and bring in the same advisors that caused the problems, yet that is what he has done. And he has nested with the Federal Reserve so closely that he kept its leader in office...one of the biggest offenders of all. It is our own fault because we voted from our hearts not our minds. But at least the poor guy got his dues with the Nobel Peace Prize. I believe McCain - Palin would have been equally disasterous. I'd love to see a Ron Paul-Ross Pero team ticket. |

I thought change would include getting the bums out and putting new people in. |
Date: 12/7/2009 6:21:00 PM From Authorid: 47218 Do I agree with all the criticisms that are being made? No. Do I think many of them could be better informed? Yes. Do I think people ought to be making criticisms at all? Heck yeah. It's our job as citizens to pay attention to what our elected officials do, to be critical, and when it comes election time in November, to go to the polls and choose candidates who we think will provide a better solution or stay with the status quo. Should people have to provide solutions if they are going to make criticisms? Goodness no. That's what we're paying the politicians and all those smart people in all those think tanks to do. If we are all capable of devising solutions to complicated problems, we'd be running the country and making the big bucks. |

what do democrats and republicans have in common? They are politicians!!! We are supposed to have a government that is "by the people, for the people". "These people" lack the experience to criticize Obama's policies? Who DOES have enough experience to critique Obama then? Did the signers of the Declaration of Independence lack the "experience" to criticize English law and the King? Did abolitionists lack the "experience" to criticize steadfast southern democrats views on slavery? Did the thousands of soldiers who volunteered for service after the attack at pearl harbor lack the "experience" to criticize the motives behind Japans military leaders? Did all the people calling for Bush's impeachment in the last 8 years lack the "experience" to criticize his mistakes? What you're implying here is that the public's voice doesn't matter. That we would be better off to just let Obama take care of it all while we shut our mouths because we know nothing. Might I remind you: "He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither" - Benjamin Franklin. You're suggesting we sacrifice our freedom of speech to make Obama's job "securing" the country easier. Well I suggest you consider looking into the ideals this country was founded on and the hope the founding fathers (you know, some of those guys on the money) had for this nation so we could live in freedom, just to get an understanding of how backwards your views are. As for not being able to make an informed decision because of classified information. My brother's a military intelligence specialist serving with the Coast Guard, but, like all the other "unexperienced" people out there, can't seem to find support for Obama, even WITH all that super secret classified information he deals with at work everyday. Weird? Isn't that the key to understanding Obama's master plan for the country? |

Sinse when did anyone need a better solution to criticize the president? Is this something that started in January 2009? The general that obama hand picked for the lead role in Afghanistan (who has much more military experience than obama) offered a plan of bringing a minimum of 40,000 troops in or we will lose the war in 12 months time. obama takes over 3 months to decide to send 25% less troops, which will take 6 months to get there (9 months from the time requested) and anounces that he will pull out in 18 months. I don't need to suggest a better solution on this, obama's general did it for me. As for spending your way out of the hole...many suggested better ways...none were listened to. Just "doing something" is sometimes the worst thing that can be done. The capitalist system is self correcting for the most part. While I agree that some regulation is needed (and for the most part was all ready in place...but failed to do the job) the market would correct over time. Some institutions would fail while others would shine. It is a very bad policy to help some companies with gov't funds (mostly companies with strong unions) while letting others fail. This confuses investers and paves the way for slow or no growth, and creates a money pit of companies that continue what they were doing to fail in the first place...knowing that uncle sam will flush more tax payer money their way. As for inheriting a junk yard, it can be made worse by spending $trillions (of other people's money) to buy more junk...don't you think? But, I must restate my first line..."Sinse when did anyone need a better solution to criticize the president? Is this something that started in January 2009?" must be the case, sinse before that date it was patriotic and American to critisize. |
