I got this in my email last night and was just fixin to click the link but something I had read about PayPal made me stop. I can't remember if it was the way PayPal addresses people in their Emails or what but I sent the letter on to the spoof at PayPal and emailed me back. Also they didnt spell SPEND or SPENDING right. Just SEND or SENDING. Be careful! Here is the first letter and afterwards is PayPals reply!

=================================

Remove your Paypal Sending Limit

Hello Joe *****,

Your remaining sending limit is $7,491.80 USD.

For security reasons, we limit the amount customers can send until they become verified.

It’s easy to get verified and remove your sending limit. Just link and confirm your bank account or get the PayPal Plus Credit Card.

With PayPal, you’re 100% protected against unauthorized payments sent from your account.

====================================================

That was the original email

====================================================

Hello Joe,

Thanks for forwarding that suspicious-looking email. You're right - it was a phishing attempt, and we're working on stopping the fraud. By reporting the problem, you've made a difference! Identity thieves try to trick you into revealing your password or other personal information through phishing emails and fake websites.

To learn more about online safety, click "Security Center" on any PayPal webpage. Every email counts. When you forward suspicious-looking emails to [email protected], you help keep yourself and others safe from identity theft.

Your account security is very important to us, so we appreciate your extra effort.

Thanks, PayPal

This email is sent to you by the contracting entity to your User Agreement, either PayPal Ince, PayPal Pte. Ltd or PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. & Cie, S.C.A. Société en Commandite par Actions, Registered Office:5th Floor 22-24 Boulevard Royal L-2449, Luxembourg RCS Luxembourg B 118 349.

======================================

Just be careful. Christmas is around the corner and thieves need extra money to buy things for themselves. If you get something like this one go directley to Paypal or the real website and loggin and find out what goes on. Never click the link provided.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Shop safe!!!!

Date: 11/26/2009 1:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    I just got one of these in my email, and forwarded it straight to the security center at PayPal.
Date: 11/26/2009 5:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 61811    That's nuts!! It's sad when you can't even trust an e-mail anymore, and people try to steal your account or something, but something I always noticed: If I accidentally clicked a "Bad link", USUALLY when it asks you to sign in or whatever it asks you, check the URL because USUALLY it ISN'T the site. For Paypal, It might say "http://wwww.lpaypal.com" or something, so it looks like the site but is just slightly different, or sometimes completely different, as in from a yahoo geocities account or something. lol Be carefulll.
Date: 11/28/2009 11:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 54444    all you need to know is pay pal will never contact you that way. if you ever want to know anything about pay pal or your account just go to your normal connection and sign in. but never click on an email link to your account or it most likely will not be pay pal. that is just as true of any other legitimate site.
