This has happened a few times in the time frame of a couple of months. The first time it happened was under some really strange circumstances. I had gone to a local ATM and had retrieved $30 (1 - $10 and 1 - $20). I went to a car wash to wash the car and had used some quarters that I had in my car to wash it. I had just put in my pocket the $30 and went in that pocket 2 times to get quarters. As I was washing the car, a guy came up to me and asked me if I could spray his towel with water for him as he was detailing his car. I did that and as he was leaving I saw him stoop down and pick something up off the ground. So, I finished washing the car and went to the local 7-11 store to get a drink. As I got to the counter to pay, there was only a $10 bill in my pocket. I paid the cashier and started to retrace my steps in the store seeing nothing. Then I checked the car on the side of the seat and all around there with no luck. I turned my pockets inside out but there was nothing, just my cellphone, my wallet, and the remaining quarters. Then it occurred to me, the car wash, that guy picked up something off the ground. He must have found my $20 but how can I prove anything? Anyway, I looked around the car wash but as I thought, nothing was there. I went home frustrated and sat on my couch again looking in my pockets and trying to think where else it could be. I sat back on my couch and looked around the room and into the dining area just thinking. I noticed something that was under the dining table which was strange because I had just swept there yesterday. Mind you, I had not gone near this area since I came in from the car wash incident and certainly since I went to the ATM before I came home is what makes it so strange. I stooped to look under the table picking up the table cloth and was shocked to see what was under there. Under the table was a brand new $20 bill. I'm not in the habit of leaving money laying around like this and certainly not this large of a denomination. I didn't know what else say but "Thank you!" out loud.
Same thing happened just yesterday (11/15/09), went to the same ATM, got $30 only this time I went to the local laundrymat to wash clothes. I get to the counter to get change and now I only have a $20 in my pocket, the $10 bill is gone now. I went around everywhere, checked my pockets and all the contents, my car, the seat, under the seat and there was nothing. Later during washing, I go to a 7-11 to get a drink and as I reach in my pocket my cell phone kept getting in the way so I pull it out to put it on the counter and stuck to my cellphone was the $10. I had just checked the cell phone earlier and there was nothing there or in my pocket as I turned them inside out.
Any ideas??? How it changed my life:I started putting all loose bills in my wallet now and stopped being so lazy and stuffing them in my pocket.
