The Iowa Department of Public Health (Department) has determined that you have had contact with a person with Novel Influenza A H1N1. Novel Influenza A H1N1 is a disease which is spread from person to person and is associated fever (greater than 100.0 F), cough, sore throat, rhinorrhea (runny nose), nasal congestion, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Novel Influenza A H1N1 presents a risk of serious harm to public health and if it spreads in the community severe public health consequences may result. This is from the CDC's website. Quarantine is coming and Iowa is the first state under orders. The Department has determined that it is necessary to quarantine your movement to a specific facility to prevent further spread of this disease. The Department has determined that quarantine in your home and other less restrictive alternatives are not acceptable because [insert the reason home quarantine is not acceptable, the person violated a previously issued home quarantine order, the person does not have an appropriate home setting conducive to home quarantine, etc.] The Department is therefore ordering you to comply with the following provisions during the entire period of quarantine: |

Storm Chaser. Most folks can't deal with these serious allegations and evidence. It just scares the heck out them. it can drive you batty but that is part of the game, the more you know the more your self preservation defense mechinism says, No way or like in the Matrix where Cyvus makes a deal with the Agents to be put back in to stasis so he can live in a world that isn't real because the alternative called reality isn't worth suffering through. I can't do it and maybe that is why my role in life is never been in the military because I haven't taken vows and signed non-disclosure agreements that would instantly put me away for life.Yet, I can be dealt with if I push too hard or my voice get's too loud. That is why the underground cameoflage of "just being a koook" is so much safer. Look what happened to Mel Gibson after he did Conspiracy Theory, the things he learned and his helpless feeling of not being able to do anything drove him to losing his mind, he has come to terms with it but he has been painted a anti-semite and lost respect from the public.Preception is everything in the media, good thing I don't have anything to worry about, yet. |

When I first heard the government was granting immunity from liability to the vaccine producers, a big red flag went off in my head. The whole inter-connectivity of everything that is going on in this country right now is an immense task to wrap one's head around. But to just connect this point and our health care reform bill, just think of the savings in health care costs should hundreds of thousands of the weak and infirm die from H1N1 this year . . . God Bless. |
Date: 8/30/2009 1:27:00 PM From Authorid: 15228 Deb, that theory doesn't hold on the weak and infirm being taken out from this virus, they seem to have an immunity to it probably because of past infections. It's the young and strong that are dying. |
Date: 8/30/2009 2:33:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51876 The swine flu doesn't kill, that is a exploitive unconfirmed statement. The added adjunts could make any sickness or already sensitive immune system to easily contract anything. I actually have the anti-viral for this in my cupboard. Not Tamiflu but a drug called Relenza. It was given to me by my youngest son's father who works for the company that produces it. Since he gave it to me I have read SO much bad press about these anti-virals that I am loathe to give it to him if he does become infected. Admittedly most of the publicity has been against Tamiflu...but how different can these medications actually be? When the vaccine against this disease is launched in my country, I will most likely be amongst the group that are offered free vaccination (teaching is considered a high risk job). I will not be accepting it! |

Date: 8/30/2009 9:45:00 PM From Authorid: 15070 I made a post about how I was srsly freaking out because my poor Sister is so sick. She went to the Hospital (from her Dr.'s Office), and was tested for the H1N1/Swine Flu. She was told she had Bronchial Pneumonia, and put on 4 drugs, including Prednisone (steroids). She is not getting better. She went BACK to the Doctor on Friday, and was told she now has "Walking Pneumonia", and was given a new round of Prednisone. But here's the odd part. This time she triggered "positive" for a "viral infection". Which means one of two things. She was misdiagnosed the first time, or her bug has mutated in her system. Either way, this is scary stuff. They have closed schools a County over because of Swine Flu. I don't think panicking is healthy, but being informed is. |
Date: 8/30/2009 9:48:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 What I do know is the government controls the vaccine, go to the CDC website if you want the vaccine. At this point we don't know where and how it will be distributed, there will be no forced vaccinations and hopefully there will be enough for those who want it. |

Date: 8/30/2009 9:58:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 The States and the Government release welfare or free shots to clinics or sites at their own pace, the vaccines are available for regular flu vaccine at cost, this year there is no combined shot, flu mist is availabe for those under a certain age and without asthma. uh, Brenda, I've been checking the CDC website for many years so, thanks for repeating it 4 times in a row but, yea I got it. To the credit of the CDC, they have been doing a great job for years and have probably stopped many a pandemic. We have been lucky. The thing about this swine flu thing is the local, state and federal governments overreaction and then issuing these mandatory statements. I know you mean well but something about this stinks which is a irony because it's caled Swine Flu. |

Kelly, this comes from the World Health Organization website: "Preparing for the second wave: lessons from current outbreaks Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 briefing note 9 28 AUGUST 2009 | GENEVA -- Monitoring of outbreaks from different parts of the world provides sufficient information to make some tentative conclusions about how the influenza pandemic might evolve in the coming months. . . Vulnerable groups: An increased risk during pregnancy is now consistently well-documented across countries. This risk takes on added significance for a virus, like this one, that preferentially infects younger people. Data continue to show that certain medical conditions increase the risk of severe and fatal illness. These include respiratory disease, notably asthma, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and immunosuppression. When anticipating the impact of the pandemic as more people become infected, health officials need to be aware that many of these predisposing conditions have become much more widespread in recent decades, thus increasing the pool of vulnerable people. Obesity, which is frequently present in severe and fatal cases, is now a global epidemic. WHO estimates that, worldwide, more than 230 million people suffer from asthma, and more than 220 million people have diabetes. Moreover, conditions such as asthma and diabetes are not usually considered killer diseases, especially in children and young adults. Young deaths from such conditions, precipitated by infection with the H1N1 virus, can be another dimension of the pandemic’s impact." God Bless. |
Date: 8/31/2009 8:43:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 I'm glad folks are checking the website, sorry for the extra comments, but trust me, this could be our next pandemic, who knows? One thing is for sure, you won't be forced to take it, sign up now if you want it. They will tell you you can get the vaccine. It isn't available yet and the government owns it and controls how it will be distributed. |
Date: 8/31/2009 8:48:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 sorry, they are saying sign up your family now and they will give further info. No one will be forced, we are concerned we may not be able to accommadate all those who are asking for this vaccine. |

To my knowledge this vaccine has not been released yet by the government and those who want it need to sign up. Here in my neck of the woods no one has even recieved the vaccine, We are just now administering the regular flu vaccine, The H1N1 vaccine is coming but not until later and may be administered in two daoses as it was not yet able to be combined with the regular flu vaccine. An order from the school district, Brenda. They sent me a letter stating that I had 30 calendar days to get my son updated on vaccinations or he would be barred from coming to school. I was naive when I had Ryan, and let myself get talked into all sorts of things. When he was diagnosed with Asperger's, I started researching. I didn't like what I found. So I decided against vaccinations for my youngest son, Jacob, and despite the doctors telling me that when a sibling is born, they have a good chance of having autism also, Jacob is fine. We were part of a class action lawsuit several years ago against Lilly pharmaceuticals. It was the mercury/thimerosal in their MMR vaccine that was at question. Well, when they enacted the Homeland Security Act, a congressman put in an "11th hour" notation way at the end of the bill that exonerated Lilly and several other manufacturers and protected them from any current and future lawsuits against their MMR vaccine. So our lawsuit got canceled. The media at large, and the CDC always claim vaccines have nothing to do with the development of Asperger's and similar disorders. I'm not buying it. The more I read, the more I'm convinced they knew that this would happen, or were made aware of it shortly after cases began to emerge, and ran to the government for protection. I'm very anti-vaccine, and I will be bringing this up in Ryan's ARD meeting next week. Our pediatrician, who is pro-vaccine, told me that there would be no further harm in vaccinating him as the damage was already done. I'm not buying that either. I am claiming religious and philosophical exemption, and if they don't want to accept that, I will be contacting legal aid, or taking him out and homeschooling him. I refuse to put one more vaccine containing God only knows what into my children. I believe this whole swine flu vaccination hype is just that: hype. It's a scare tactic by the government, and I'm not falling prey to it. This is MY body, and my children's bodies, and only *I* will decide what gets put into them. |
Date: 8/31/2009 9:41:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 so if the doctor "orders" or recommends which is what I believe is more likely, the pastor can sign a waiver based on religious grounds? Of course, the mother does have her RIGHT to decide in the best interest of her child. Precisely so, after all, is this not a free country? Free choice? So simple for her to stand her ground and demand HER rights. Choices are nmot about expression of what one believes as much as what one gives to another for the sake of what may be best and for common good, But again, this is the US and each of have a choice and when it comes to our children, there you go, do what you think is best for the child, only for the child. |
Date: 8/31/2009 9:49:00 PM From Authorid: 12341 your choice and your right, Fiery Mom of Two, don't hate me because I don't support you, I grew up with people who never had polio vaccines and walked with a limp and or crutches, my granddaughters are getting cancer vaccines because cancer has killed too many in my family already, technology does not scare me nearly as much as disease. You have rights and so do the rest of us, I am just thankful for newer and more evolved medical benefits from vaccines. |
Date: 8/31/2009 10:58:00 PM From Authorid: 63201 Of course I don't hate you. I know many that probably don't support my choice, and that's ok. you're right, this IS a free country (at least for now), and we have the freedom to make our own choices. What hacks me off is that the school is trying to strong-arm me into submission with threats and policies where they have no business butting into. My and my children's private personal choices should not concern the school at all. When I signed the waiver for my youngest Jacob, I agreed that if there were an "outbreak" I would keep him at home until the outbreak was over. The school that Ryan attends is much more hardnosed and they're really ticking me off. |

I have a hard time believing these things about the government because I work for a government agency and they can't even get payroll correct. It leaves me little faith in their capabilities. lol The only thing I've heard through work about the swine flu was yesterday we were told if there is a bad outbreak/pandemic we have mandatory 12 hours shifts, 7 days a week. Fiery Mom of 2, I sighned the waiver for my oldest who is now in first grade last year. They shouldn't be giving you grief because it is your right and if they do continue to give you grief, do contact a lawyer. |

One thing I would like to say about my side of this is; Most people are not as inteligent as those who are discussing this here. Most people just accept what they are told and go on. So, it's always about MONEY, selling vaccines, keeping govermental agency budgets goingand controling the economies of the world. It's bigger than vaccines, cult leaders, terrorists and informed everyday people. Think about products that are made today.. everything has a duty cycle or is disposable. Nothing and I mean Nothing is made with quality to last that is affordable. It's about circulation of money and the constant flow going into the pockets of global power players. |
Date: 9/1/2009 9:48:00 AM From Authorid: 32806 I've just been reading a large article in a science magazine about flu vaccines, and they are ALL in very early stages of development and not ready to test on humans yet. Makes me wonder exactly what this "vaccine" is if cutting edge science research doesn't have one. |
Date: 9/1/2009 10:13:00 AM From Authorid: 32806 My bad, they were vaccines for all flu not a specific strain. |
Date: 9/1/2009 2:26:00 PM From Authorid: 15070 This morning, on the National Geographic cable channel, I saw the best program yet about the Swine Flu/H1N1. Coming from Nat. Geo, I feel there is very little (..if any) propaganda. Or deliberate misinformation. They are trying to find a vaccine that actually inhibits the flu virus, as opposed to simply training our cells to "fight" it. This strain of the flu (Swine/H1N1) is different on a cellular level than even the flu of 1918. Or the flu of 1968. Bottom line...? Till a vaccine is available, hand washing & masks are our only current protection. (But, I think we knew that.) They have traced to original case to Mexico, and they claim to know the "hows" & "whys" of how it came to mutate & come into being. The problem is, the genetic code of this strain of the flu makes it unique. It has four unique vectors, instead of the usual two (vectors). Despite what we are being told by the CDC, it is getting harder for me personally to believe this is a natural mutation. Granted, I am not a Virologist, (or a Doctor), but even my basic nursing education is enough for me to have mental alarms going off... |

Fiery Mom of 2: I'm with you. I'm not totally anti-vaccine; I'm just pro education - know what you are jabbing into your child's system and what can result from it. My older son has PDD-NOS/SID, but doesn't qualify for a diagnosis of Autism... I can't connect it to the MMR vaccine because he got that one late and it was after we started noticing symptoms but hadn't yet connected what those symptoms meant.... and I was uneducated. I trusted my doctors to guide me, give me the facts and act in my child's best interest. My daughter is older, she received all of her vaccines at the suggested time and she's fine. My younger son was put on an extended vaccination schedule for the later vaccines and he's also fine. (the youngest was born when my older son was about 20 months, so his arrival got a lot of the blame as to why the older son was suddenly regressing.) The one thing that seriously ticks me off is the insistence that vaccines are absolutely, positively not a contributor to Autism, yet they haven't done enough research to actually determine that fact. And until they can tell me absolutely, positively what does cause it, all theories are valid, IMO. It also seriously ticks me off that if a child is damaged by a vaccine, that the maker no longer holds any liability for the damage. GRRRRR! They may have poisoned an entire generation of children! Good luck on getting that waiver accepted. I've had the regular flu only a few times in my life. I had a really bad one in 1976 and didn't get it again until right after my husband had to take his Navy required flu vaccine the first year we were married and he got sick from it. I've had it maybe 3 times in the last 20 years, including that flu shot induced case. I've never in my life taken a flu shot of any type... I'm not about to start now. |
Date: 9/2/2009 10:30:00 AM From Authorid: 63201 I agree Mercury. The 3 times in my life that I have actually gotten the flu, I had the vaccine that year. I now only accept the Hepatitis vaccine, because it's a proven vaccine with no side effects, and I've done a lot of studying into the actual vaccine that I'm given. With a compromised immune system, I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. I do take the PCP pneumonia vaccine as well, because people with HIV/AIDS are at a different place than negative people, and we're higher risk for PCP pneumonia. But I restrict the other vaccines and will not have my children vaccinated, because like you said, they have not ruled it out 100%, they've only given their "theory" based on a few studies. |
