Review: UP in 2D ~FieryMomOf2~

My mom wanted to take all 4 grandkids plus me and my brother to see UP today. It was an ok movie, my mom said "I didn't hear you giggle at all." Truth be told, I didn't find it that funny, and I normally like animation movies like Ice Age, Bee, Over the Hedge, etc.

It started out kinda sad, and I think the first part of the movie went over the kid's heads. My kids are 12 and 9, and my nieces are 6 and 4. They laughed and talked quietly through some parts, but I don't really think they "got it" in the beginning.

It's definitely not a movie for younger kids, as they won't understand the beginning, and most of the rest. My 6 year old niece laughed at some of the things the dogs were doing, but she didn't really understand the storyline plot.

I'm glad we went to the Sunday matinee and only paid 5 bucks each to see it, it's not worth much more than that, even in 3D. I definitely won't be buying the DVD, as it just wasn't that funny to me.

Date: 6/8/2009 7:20:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63201    I'd wait until it came out on dvd or netflix and rent it Paula...definitely not worth movie box office prices...3D might make it a little more interesting, but I doubt it. Sorry
Date: 6/8/2009 11:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 28848    I heard a lot of hype about this movie and decided to take my kids to see it last night. I really didnt think it was that great either. The animation is great but the story was really flat to me.
Date: 6/8/2009 3:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 37101    I will still say that Pixar is fantastic at what they do, but Up seemed like a bit of a let down. I think a lot of it is based on expectations we have for their movies by now. Up definitely brought through lots of emotions: happiness (Kevin made you laugh), sadness, relief, exhileration... but it didn't feel cohesive. The movie felt too "heavy" to be a Pixar movie. Wall-E beats it, hands down. -
