Prayers needed for our dog ~FieryMomOf2~

Our chiweenie, ChiChi, got ran over this morning, we're assuming by the mailman. She is currently in the hospital in critical condition. Both hips and legs were crushed, and the extent of the damage to her internal organs is unknown at this point. We do know she has a large hematoma, and the vet said it might be too dangerous to open her up for surgery on her hips and legs, as the hematoma may rupture, and there would be no way to stop the bleeding. She's not bleeding internally at the moment, but she had an existing hernia that sortof mashed everything downwards when the car hit her.

The vet is going to do a dye xray to see if her bladder and colon are still there, as she didn't see them on the first xray.

If she makes it through the weekend (the vet is going to take her home with her), we're looking at some expensive surgery to repair her hips and legs. As most of you know, I live on disability and a part-time job working from home. She's willing to work with me financially, but this is going to be a big financial hit for us. Still, we can't just let her suffer and die, and I'm not willing to put her down if she still has a chance. The next 24 hours will be very telling in her prognosis.

She was very alert when I went back to see her, but heavily sedated and on pain medicine. The vet said it's a good sign that she's alert and aware of my presence. It means she hasn't given up the fight. When I saw the look in her eyes, I couldn't make the decision to have her put down. She seemed happy to see me and even tried to move across the blanket to me.

So any prayers, candles, chants, anything would be greatly appreciated. She's 7 years old, I've had her for 5. She is just like a child to me, and that's part of the reason I couldn't make the decision today to put her down. I want to give her every chance possible.

Thanks

*hugs and love*

Melissa
