My one year old has figured out how to get out of his crib. It is driving me bannas! Does any one have any advice on this?

I just dont know what to do.....

I thought about maybe turning his crib into a bed... it is a three in one.. so that he wont get hurt jumping out.

I really dont know how to help hiim. Him and his two yearold sister share a room so at nap time he jumps out and wakes her up! Is there some sort of crib net or something for kids?

Apart from that, I'm no help at all.

Date: 4/25/2009 7:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 21903    lol, I don't mean to laugh, but the vision I got of a crib net was hilarious! I don't have any kids, so I can't offer any advice. But goodluck!!
Date: 4/25/2009 7:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    Time to go to a toddler bed!
Date: 4/25/2009 8:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 30621    My grandson's crib has a way to raise and lower the crib mattres. If lowering it dosnt work or your little ones crib dosnt have that option than I have to agree with jellie bean.
Date: 4/25/2009 8:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 30621    I just reread what you wrote again and have to say--Smart child! My children didnt start crib jumping until they were two. And my grandson 18 months hasnt even attempted it.
Date: 4/25/2009 8:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    lower the crib if you can or turn it into the toddler bed.. they suggest (who they are exactly i donno lol though i think most moms agree with the mysterious they lol) that once your child has figured out how to escape from the crib it's tim eto put them into a proper bed
Date: 4/25/2009 8:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43807    I just checked on him and his sister... and he is sleeping in her bed with her!!! i got a picture too cute!
Date: 4/25/2009 9:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    Awww so he got into bed with his sister how cute...he is sure ready for his toddler bed hun....show us the picture!!!
Date: 4/26/2009 12:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 37150    Yeah seems like he's ready for a bed and wants to be with his sister. That's sweet. You could maybe get a play pen that he can't climb out of.lol.

Date: 4/26/2009 6:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 64637    My son just started doing the same thing! driving me crazy too I did actually find a crib net for this problem- check this out : it is called tots in mind crib net. it is duel purpose for babies climbing out of the crib and for protecting against insects. It's a little pricey though....HUGS
Date: 4/26/2009 6:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 64637    OK, well I just read some of the comments here- My son is 1 year and 4 months...he is not ready for his own bed yet, there is no way that my baby would even stay in it and go to sleep, so we are really going to try to keep him in there as long asd we can because he is a very active baby, and is already climbing out of his play pen too. If your baby is climbing out of his crib, a play pen is going to be a no brainer for him, the cribs are harder to climb out of.. I was actually just looking for this a couple of days ago because my son just started doing this this week tots in mind crib net, they have it on ebay too
Date: 4/26/2009 8:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    I've heard of some people turning the crib over and making a sort of cage out of it, but I wouldn't recommend that. Also- if you decide to convert to the toddler bed make sure you have everything baby proofed or a way of keeping him from wandering around the house (or outside of it!) and getting into stuff he shouldn't. Typically solving one problem creates a new batch of them to consider
Date: 4/26/2009 9:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    Yeah, there are crib nets.

My middle child started crib hopping at about a year and a half. I was grocery shopping and my husband called me in a panic

We felt she was too young for a toddler bed or the like. we moved her sister to her toddler bed when she was just past two and it was a nightmare. So I wasn't willing to undertake that task at a year and a half.

SO we did get a crib net.

Put the sucker on and what do you know. She pitched a huge fit, wouldn't sleep. So we took it off for the time being. No crib hoping since.

I think when we move our son to the crib, I'm just going to reinstall the net and have him use it from the beginning as to avoid this in the future.

Date: 4/26/2009 9:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 13636    We just turned my daughter's crib into a toddler bed, and turned her doorknob around so she gets locked in at night. It safer than not locking her in, or she'd be walking around the neighborhood at night.
Date: 4/26/2009 4:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 4144    chicken wire across the top of the crib?!!
wow! one year old and already breaking out?! bless your heart!
