I do have a dog (shih-tzu) but she's not an outside dog or anything and she seems fine. The rash is going away though if it was ring worm wouldn't it still be there? I don't know. |

I think they go away after a while, I'm not sure. maybe you should call the doctor just to make sure. |

possibly a parasite of some type (ring worm would be my first guess, too), or a bug bite of some type. My boys both get weird welt type marks on them after being bitten by skeeters. I think they're allergic or something. |

I think ring worm is more round, with a definite outline, though. |

He may have gotten a little bug bite...that's what it looks like in the pic. |

also: ring worm is a fungus, not a parasite. it's the same fungus that causes athletes foot, so it's not even a worm... just a pain in the rear, or foot, or wherever it shows up :P |

It doesn't seem to bother him at all. I just wish I knew what or where it came from. |

Since you mentioned that it appeared to peel, could it be a spot of eczema? |

My youngest had psoriasis when he was younger, it looked very similar. He was lucky and grew out of it though. |

if it's psoriasis, it should have silvery scales over the entire spot, not just the edges... it could be, but mine have always started out as very small patches (I was diagnosed when I was about 4), about the size of a pencil eraser and grow bigger as time goes on. They are usually very irregular in shape, too. The only time they are red is after I exfoliate or scratch a lot. |

I used to have those as a small child on my back..and I believe they said it was scartissue and eczema, a birthmark (the name escapes me) so who knows, all I know is, I had one on my back shoulder blade for years and it went away but I did end up with full blown psoraisis...it also could as I see below been a ringworm as well..but it does look like the rough red patches on my back as well..hope I helped some... |

Could it be Psoriasis? my daughter got it as a child and I thought it was a ringworm but it was a dry skin patch and red looking and took her to the doctor who said it was Psoriasis...if you are worried get it looked at by a professional... |

if it was peeling then it was either a rash or burn of some kind. |

I beleive it might be eczema..cause i get this on the back of my neck from time to time and my friends daughter had something similar, but also it could be and alergy because she would break out like that as well after eating certain foods. |

Its almost gone. I think it was just some sort of rash or something but I am definitely going to mention it to the doctor on Thursday when we go for his 9 month appointment. I don't think its anything serious at all. Fingers crossed. |

Sorry if someone said this - could it be that he leaned up on a table or got a "burn" from it? Like if he lost his balance and rubbed up against something? |

I don't think its a burn. I think it was either a pinch or something or eczema or something. I don't know. But its going away...very faint now. I'm still going to mention it to the doctor and show her if its still noticible at all. We shall see. |

My youngest (9 yrs old) said it looked like this rash he had the other day. It does too. I totally forgot about it. It was reddish and had a "grainy" feel to it. Not really a raised rash... just had a TOUCH of texture to it. And it peeled a teeny bit. Nothing serious. He was more freaked out about it than anything. It didn't hurt or itch or anything. I gave in benadryl and it went away within a day or two. I have no idea what it was though. |
