For a while I've always used a flat iron on my hair so I normally wear my hair straight. For my past birthday my mother got me some curling irons( Three for 12 bucks, three different sizes, not bad huh?) I have styling gel (Suave extreme hold) and all that good stuff but my hair is like 2 feet long or more so the curls are not staying in too good so my quesion here is what are some good products to use on my hair to keep the curl in or any tips here!

Hehe I know this is sad I can't curl hair too well! LOL

Date: 7/16/2008 12:09:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    Yeah, I've actually tried to curl my hair before and gave up just because I thought my hair might be too heavy with how long it is but I'm giving it another try! I LOVE my flat iron though.
Date: 7/16/2008 12:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 22275    mine used to do that, but i find hairspray immediately after curling helps somewhat.
Date: 7/16/2008 12:11:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    I'm actually not smart with hairspray either, any kind that won't make your hair feel strange?
Date: 7/16/2008 12:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 22275    treseme or however its spelled, im half asleep and my hairspray is in the bathroom. lol even the ultra doesnt make my hair crunchy lol
Date: 7/16/2008 12:16:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    Thank you Pika, I will go pick some up tomorrow and give it another try! I might post pics if it turns out well.
Date: 7/16/2008 12:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 22275    Yay! Hopefully it works for you like it does for me, spray like immediately after you take the curling iron off so it doesnt have time to fall.
Date: 7/16/2008 12:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 61847    Well, its probably more than likely your hair is the cause. Since your hair is so long and its heavy. The weight of your hair actually pulls the curls out. Have you considered layering your hair to help witht the weight? As for products I would talk to a hairdresser. They can help you out I'm sure. Or try Sally's Beauty Supply. *hugs*
Date: 7/16/2008 12:25:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    Thank you for your comment AngelGurl4Ever, I've actually got my hair in layers at the moment but all the layers are still pretty long, maybe I need a new cut.
Date: 7/16/2008 12:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 61847    And make sure you have healthy hair. Try using a volume boosting shampoo, conditioner and moose or something. They can also help. *hugs*
Date: 7/16/2008 1:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 40741    I got those 3 for 12 bucks too and they dont work on my hair either. I think it may be the curling irons?
Date: 7/16/2008 1:50:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    Is it the Revlon curling irons you have, Jen?
Date: 7/16/2008 2:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 64514    I have the same prob, its our hair its too long and heavy so unless you use a ton of hairspray it won't hold.
Date: 7/16/2008 2:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 64497    *shakes head wondering why in the world you would want curly hair* It is a pain in the butt lol. :-p.
Date: 7/16/2008 4:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 64365    Fructis Style Curl Shaping Gel, or a couple of products for curl shaping by Aussie
Date: 7/16/2008 5:04:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    Hehe, Callice. I have a friend with extremely curly hair and she asks the same thing. I think my mother was telling about the same products, Nomi Thanks everyone for the comments!
Date: 7/16/2008 5:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    curls I have an abundance of... what I want to know is how does anyone get their hair straight without being frizzy?!? why can I use a flat iron and make my hair stick lifelessly to my head AND STILL have curls show up an hour later? (if I'm lucky and it doesn't just turn in to flat frizz) It takes over no matter what I do. Hot rollers might be a better way to go with your length.
Date: 7/16/2008 6:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 62849    I couldn't tell ya- my hair is baby fine and won't hold a curl to save my life. No amount of product will make my hair stay curly.
Date: 7/16/2008 7:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 46069    If the irons arent keeping the curl.. by the sounds of it. your hair is heavy... maybe have it thinned out a bit .. or instead of using the irons, use hot rollers.. they always give hair a nice bouncy curl.
Date: 7/16/2008 8:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 22275    and my hair is 3/4 down my back
Date: 7/16/2008 8:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 22275    oh yeah don't like ... drown your hair in hairspray just a little does the trick. I have REALLY REALLY REALLY thick hair. Like anytime i get my hair cut, the person cutting it it like "Oh geeze"... i even had aguy take off work early after cutting my hair last time i got it cut. I have mine in layers too they did help. Mine are pretty long as well.
Date: 7/16/2008 8:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 14754    use hair spray called focus 21 (splash), it sticks to your hair like glue..LOL, it works the best.
Date: 7/16/2008 9:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 21764    I have no clue how to use a curling iron.. how sad is that?
Date: 7/16/2008 9:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 64162    Well you can have my hair! It's curly all by itself...just wash and go. Bleh. I had my hair long for a while and then I got it layered. It's tons easier to handle now..especially in the summer when its HOT. Just make sure after you curl hair to wait until the hair is cooled down; if you touch it when it's hot then the curl falls. And hairspray will be your best friend. :P
Date: 7/16/2008 10:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 64637    I don't do anything with my hair at all....sad huh? I only curl it sometimes, and just like you the curls fall out in no time. I just throw it up and go!(I wish I had time to curl my hair! Maybe after the kids grow up and move away I will try these tips!!!~~~MidnightSun
Date: 7/16/2008 1:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 62618    get some velcro rollers, after you do the curling iron thing roll that piece of hair up in a velcro (or two) and let it sit and cool off, that will also help hold the curl. Spray with hairspray while they are in the velcros.
Date: 7/16/2008 1:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 12072    if there's a heat setting on them, try setting it at the highest heat. My hair doesn't curl worth beans--it's very fine and not very long, but it's stick straight and curls just slide right out. Try working with "dirty" hair, ie, don't wash your hair right before curling it, wash it the day before. If I try curling freshly washed hair, I might as well forget it lol. Good luck and post some pics!
Date: 7/16/2008 11:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57074    Thanks for replies everyone! I will surely try some of these tips! My hair isn't 3/4 down my back, its ALL the way down my back, Pika. lol!
