My liver biopsy was postponed cause I'm a big dummy!!!............*IP*

Yup you read it right.....I, Andrea - ItalianPrincess, is a big ol dummy and learned her lesson well in the process of it. :)

What did I do you ask??? Well on memorial weekend I was sick and could tell I was getting tonsilitis. Being it was a holiday weekend to get a hold of a doctor would of been a pain in the butt so I decided to take some antibiotics that my husband had for his throat from a while back that he was given but never used because they ended up prescribing him something else instead, after we already had that filled. Nice.....anyway...the dosage was to take 2 pills twice a day. My first dose I took friday night. Saturday I was feeling much better....until saturday night it started coming back. Sunday I woke up feeling like I had a golf ball on the right side of my throat and my right ear was starting to hurt me as well. I never have ear problems. So that morning, I took to more and I stayed in bed all day. Then I took 2 more again before going back to bed for the night. That was it..I was feeling better and I didn't want to push it with taking the pills anymore.

Well woke up Wednesday morning with a rash on my hands and I was itchy. I took some benedryl and went to work. By the time I got to work it was up my arms and on chest. Oh NO....I've seen this before.

So I go to the internet at work and look up Augmentin on the computer. YUP...its a form of amoxicillian which I'm allergic to. Called the doctor and left a message, it was about 845 am by this time. They open at 9 but I ended up getting a hold of one of the receptionist to leave the message for him to call me asap. Nope he never called, so I called again around 2 or so and explained. Still couldn't talk to anyone but the receptionist or nurse whoever she is....I was pretty much told to keep taking the benedryl. OK people...this isn't helping any.....but I did it. That night slept like poo cause of the itching. Went back to work on Thursday and called again and spoke to the same lady and said ok Benedryl did nothing, I KNOW what the problem is and I told her, which is the same thing I said yesterday. So she made a 10am appointment for me.

I left work and went to my appointment knowing my doctor was going to have my head for doing something stupid but I just didn't care. First thing out of his mouth is where have you been? I'm supposed to be following up with you for your liver but I haven't heard from you. So I told him about the angiogram and how I have the biopsy on friday. And then I said but this is why I'm here. And I showed him my arms. I put my head down and said, I know I know...I screwed up...and I told him what happened. He's like don't you know your allergic to that? You've been allergic to it for many many years now..don't you know? I said well I didn't know augmentin was amoxicillian...oppps..bad me.

So after getting the lecture about taking meds that aren't mine and not calling him etc...he said it was REALLY bad and that I had to be put on steriods for a week. He also said that he doesn't see me getting the biopsy done like this...he did say its elective and not an emergency so we can postpone it...SO that was good.

He also said my tonsils and glands were still swollen and gave me a prescription for zithromax. He also gave me some samples of clarinex.

So yesterday was my last day of antibiotics and this morning was my last steriod pill. The rash is gone but I'm still a little itchy. I'm hoping that will end soon because its been keeping me up at night...well that and my little boy. I haven't sleep in a week. UGH>

Poor Stephen has an upper respitory infection...he has a really bad cough..my poor baby.

Anyway....so my liver biopsy is rescheduled for June 13th...next friday. Wish me luck.

Ya...and no more lectures please....I've heard it all already...LOL
