Parakeets can be a lovable bird...and chirp pretty good. We don`t have birds anymore since we have cats. Aw the LoveBirds are so pretty! |

My advice is really don't do it without talking to them first. Or maybe one of them and make it a 'surprise' for the other. I just say this because we went through a situation where one of my husbands siblings got a pet for the family.....and they didn't ask about it first...needless to say the pet ultimately ended up being given up. That being said, I've always heard canaries have a pretty song |

Not really a bird fan. We had a canarie, and when we went to give it away, it escaped the cage, and started to dive bomb me! Anyways- good luck and I agree with Becky don't do anything without asking them first. |

I don't think that you should get someone else living creatures. If you're really interested in this, then you should talk to them before you purchase this gift to make sure that they would welcome birds into their home. |

It's a lovely thought for you to want to get them something extra special but you do need to feel them out first about getting a pet....love birds (budgerigars) are lovely, and if they are young enough they can learn to talk... |

Well, all birds are messy...but if you want one with cheery songs...that's a Canary. Finches sound like little computers. I had parakeets that made beautiful noises...but then they could also make some pretty raucous noises... |

Well, I know parakeets are good...Maybe a canary or two....Well, I've never had a canary...I've only had parakeets, but I love to hear them sing! So, parakeets might be good...It's up to you, though...*Smiles* -Lightning13- |

I had a parakeet and it would always break out of it's cage. The cat decided to show him who was boss one day, and ate him I say a Canary lol. |
